You have a nice full sound from the acoustic(s?) and the "lead" electric guitar adds alot without getting in the way. The vocals are pretty solid with only a few iffy parts, but the lower, kind of drowning harmony bothers me. If you want to have harmony like that, I'd probably add an additional part on top. Cool song, I just think the harmony needs adjusting.

Nice to hear from you again and nice to hear from The Trouts!
The Trouts - Dry your Eyes, Say Goodbye
Okay, this is very much in the same style as the other Trouts’ tunes I’ve head, a style I’d characterize as folk-pop. I should think that it’s the sort of music that would go down well in a club where people came to listen more than to dance. Whenever I hear your stuff I always picture you playing in a rustic pub with an audience of people in there mid 20’s to early 40’s. I have no reason for this picture other than the music. Is it at all accurate? Do you play in small pubs, with people (dressed in cardigans and tams) listening happily and cheering when you’re done? I suppose it’s just my happy vision, but it would make a very pleasant gig.
Again, as is usual with your material, I like this track. (The guitar is a bit out of tune to the keys, I think. You hear it on the high note in the chord run up.)
The song is pleasant; the melody works pretty well; the atmosphere of the playing is relaxed. The flanging is a bit extreme, maybe, but beyond that it’s a very nice listen.
I wouldn’t rate this as a ‘single’ – to use that largely obsolete and always imaginary standard - but it is a nice solid track.

"Love Died"
Well, good news and bad news.
This is the third Trouts’ tune I’ve reviewed; I've been impressed each time by your sound. I like it a lot. The instrumentation is fresh and pretty. Your vibe is very down home. Sort of like The Irish Rovers. In any case, this is a catchy tune with a sentimental vibe. The harmony work is a great idea, but there are some problems with the execution. In some places things go out of tune to a degree; particularly just prior to the refrain.
That's the good news; the bad news: there is one fairly serious problem this song has a composition. It is melodically very similar to the Peter, Paul and Mary classic ‘500 Miles.' The verse melody is nearly a dead ringer; certainly it’s derivative – even if subconsciously. Were you aware of this, Al, or is it news?
Blessings,
Cam
