Slingshot Review
Man this is a sweeet track, kind of like chillout or dark downtempo but a few beats faster than average. Definitely a recommended download.

It opens with a beautiful arpeggio intro with tasteful delay effects and other pretty things. The almost accoustic-sounding bass and groovy (if somewhat overfiltered) drum loop are a solid rhythm section to back up the rest of the track so far. As I mentioned on IRC, the bass has a strange sort of distortion effect but nothing too crippling. There's kind of a boring stretch of "nothing but pads" from when the drums come in until 1:40, but fortunately it ends with a cool "live" guitar or sitar solo and some synth stabbage. Really the song literally just keeps getting better from that point on to the end. In addition to the highly pleasing guitars, the drum work gets much more complex, with knob twists and noises in all the right places. The "filterbass" becomes an instrument more appropriate to the atmosphere of the song. The creepy organ peeking in and out of the mix and the horror movie-sounding noises at 3:40 add a macabre sound that continues throughout the song. Squeaky techno noises and delayed chords show up at just the right times... Honestly there are so many good things going on here that to catalogue them would take forever.

As for the rest, slightly unprofessional mastering and the more hesitant parts of the initial buildup are the only things (in my opinion) keeping this tune from 9.5-10 territory. I debated on a rating for this one but I really don't think 8.5 does it justice so... Good work!
