Von Industrial-Noise, über elektronischen Darkwave bis hin zu atmosphärischen Klängen und Hardcore Noise spannen FALLOUT NATION den Bogen. Ein besonders wichtiges Element ist dabei stets eine intensive Art von Spannung, die durch verschiedene Mittel erzeugt und fast konstant beibehalten wird. Es darf dabei neben dem „Industrial-/Noise-typischen“ Instrumentarium gelegentlich auch auf Pianoklänge, verzerrte E-Gitarrenklänge und verzerrten Gesang zurückgegriffen werden. Die Grundstimmung wird meist von düsteren und kalten Elementen bestimmt, die Bilder wie Endzeitstimmung oder eine öde und verlassene Industrielandschaft vor dem geistigen Auge des Hörers projizieren. Mit ihrer recht vielfältig gestalteten und nicht unoriginellen Musik positionieren sich FALLOUT NATION irgendwo zwischen SULPHER, BLEEDING EARS, alten (!) MARILYN MANSON, KREPULEC und WINTERKÄLTE, ohne wirklich irgendwo „abzugucken“. Einer der Höhepunkte von „Worldwide Wasteland Terror“ ist für mich das fünfte Stück der Scheibe, eines der ruhigsten, welcher eine unheimliche Stimmung aufbaut und zugleich „positiv“-kraftvoll und sehr ästhetisch ist. Ebenfalls hervorzuheben ist das zweite Stück, welches einen ultimativen Schlachtsong darstellt: Pure Aggression, eine johlend-schreiende Masse im Hintergrund, martialische Rhythmen und zerstörerische Geräusche geben hier den Ton an und reißen den Hörer unweigerlich mit. Viel mehr kann man zu dieser überaus gelungenen Scheibe nicht sagen. Sehr empfehlenswert und höchst eigenständig.

A cross between Moby, and F.S.o.L with a bit of NIN , the artist(s) have got a good thing going for them. In a world which is full of fake pop-punk-rock-goth, this is refreshing, if not a novelty to the ears. There's not much I can say about Fallout Nation, there's not a lot i know of about them. This is as diverse a track as you'll find on this site, and it's not a bad thing. This band will certainly stir up a lot of interest over hear in Scotland if their music becomes more accessible to the public.

Fallout Nation’s debut CD has a well constructed orthodox industrial sound that appears to have been influenced by the likes of fellow Swedish artists Mental Destruction, Sanctum, Azure Skies and Mago. The first four tracks and the album title gives the impression that this is going to have an extreme industrial sound throughout, but things are not so predictable. Track three, ”World Wide Terror”, combines a slow heavy guitar with distorted screaming vocals over rythmic explosions, noise blasts and mechanical percussion. This is followed by ”Against Corruption” which has a similar hostile formula, but no guitar. After that the vocals disappear completely and the band goes seamlessly back and forth between suspenseful ambient soundtrack and mild percussion-driven industrial compositions in tracks four to ten. For tracks 11 and 12 the band unexpectedly shifts gears to a sombre tone and classical notes. All-in-all, Fallout Nation’s brand of apocalyptic industrial is a suberb addition to the genre.
