The vocals are very good, though they are a bit too reminiscent of Chris de Burgh's "Lady In Red" at times - for instance, at the chorus at 1:47. Other than those little scares, ( Wink ) the vocals lap against my ear drums in a very pleasant manner. Lyrics are good - I'm glad I read them actually, cos otherwise I'd have missed that line about the flying pigs... Laughing
I'm not 100% sure about that warm-pad type synth in the background mind - it sometimes sounds slightly disonant when it's combined with the piano... or maybe that's just me. I think it's just the melody line it follows for the first minute or so before the vocals come in... the rest sounds okay.
I like the break down from around 3:50 - the finger clicks were an unexpected touch too... I like that, cos it sounds unusual.
All in all though, it's a really cool and mellow song. Excellent work man... Very Happy Cool
9.5/10
There is an absence of full audio spectrum ie; bass and drums where I believe this song would benifit greatly from a good bassline.
The recording is very clean with respect to the actual instruments sans the background noise and the piano and guitar sound pretty damn good.
as several passes have been made while writing....it has some charm, a bit of enchanting quality to it.
Well arranged piece that could benifit from a solid bassline as it progresses.
I personally like this song very much and will reviewing your other songs shortly.
Keep up the good work!
P.S. I assume that the paper shuffling is intentional in the later part of the piece.
I really enjoyed listening to this, warm and easy!
At 3:33 when the strings exit the scene I would try to let them fade slowly instead of just abruptly cutting them off, also...I would center the strings in the mix, they sound discnnected from the rest of the track. If they get in the way of the guitar I would go up an octave with them so they sound light and airy vs heavy and dark.
Vocals are where they need to be right in the center and clear!
The music box type of piano is very nice and the last minute was a nice surprise with the guitar and keyboard plus the fingersnapping...different but cool!
I like this alot going on round three, very cool song!
This can easily be the best song ive heard on soundclick. You're very talented! and u can sing as good as anyone else out there. The production was neat and clean. And the recordings were excellent. I could hardly find areas to point out ur mistakes.
The overall idea of the song is very nice. And the lyrics were nicely written, neat metaphors. i liked the part in the intro where the rhythm guitar comes in but only in the right channel, i've pointed out so many times to various people...panning is the key and you seem to have mastered the art!
However i didnt like the keyboard playing in the intro, somehow it didnt sound very refined. Compared to the rest of the song, it was pretty ordinary. But that's only upto around 14 seconds into the song. After that it gets better. Maybe you cud do better with the intro. The vocals were upto the mark. You seem to be hitting the right notes with ease. I was impressed by the detailed work on the vocals. The occasional backup vocals in the verse worked for me...
