Hello Devinstunes...
Feel Free to have a look at any of mine. If i were to choose some to be critiqued i would say "Wonder Why" or "Save Me From Myself" or "wait"
Any would be appreciated
Thanks in advance,
Mark

Well I listened Wonder Why, Save me from Myself, and Wait and a few others on your site. I settled on wonder why because it was my favorite of your tunes.
The caption on your music page described Wonder Why as a "Smooth Accoustic Rock Song". Although I'm not quite sure why, most of the instruments sound electronic/synth, even the vocals have a fair bit of effects on them. I'm not sure what parts are actually played on acoustic instruments but the whole song has a mechanical/midi feel to the sound and rhythm. All that considered, the recording quality is very clean, and the mix is very good. Each "instrument" sounds pretty good, well alittle too good actually as they sound alittle fake.
I have to be honest Mark, your an excellent musician, singer, and song writer. You have an exellent arrangment skills, the whole song is well crafted, slick even. But I think your sound is a bit dated. It reminds me of something I'd hear on a mid-late 80's movie sound track(think acid wash jeans), which I'm sure alot of people dig, but its got a lot of cheese(Processed velveta to take the metaphore even further). But thats enough of my harsh criticisms.
What do I like about your stuff? Well Its impeccably tight, in all the songs listened to, I'd be hard pressed to find a wrong note. You have an excellent heartfelt voice, but I'd like to hear it with out all the junk on it. Your tone, and control is great, personally, I don't think you should hide it. Also I gotta say that the song is very catchy, I really like the little interludes between the vocals, the piano/synth string harmonys are nice.
I'm sorry Mark if I'm being a little rough, but try my best to follow the golden rule, when reviewing(ie treat others how you'd like to be treated). So I would hope someone who reviews my tunes would be honest, and really say what they feel. As a result I feel I owe you the same. Your obviously extremely talented, and I think your stuff is great within its genre, just not my cup of tea.
So If anyone out there is a fan of 80's rock(not metal) or soft rock, I would definetly check out The Mark Holly Project
