1. Of, relating to, or containing salt; salty

When you look up the definition for the word “saline” in the dictionary, it’s no wonder why the Pennsylvania-based independent band decided to take on the title. Their ministry verse is Matthew 5:13, which speaks of being salt of the earth.
Formed in 2001, the five member band has a goal to provide positive, high-energy music and shows for whoever wants to hear. They released their debut album, “Listen,” in 2002 and have now released their second album in early 2005.
Titled “Less Of Me,” the band tackles the rock-pop genre on this forty-four and half minute record – with emphasis being more on the rock side. The response for the album has already been overwhelming, launching the band into the top three for all unsigned Christian bands on the prestigious PureVolume.com. So what’s all the commotion about? It’s time to investigate.
Less Of Me finds Saline crafting ten original songs, all of which have incredibly catchy hooks and will no doubt appeal to many listeners. Most of these tracks are upbeat with a rock edge, though there are exceptions to the case thanks to the ballads – such as two piano-based songs, “All I Ever Wanted” and “Hymn.” There’s even a song that has a country-esque influence (“Less Of Me”).
Lyrically the band accomplishes what they set out to do – provide positive music for their listeners. The songs on the album seem to be very well written and don’t compromise quality.
The problem with Less Of Me lies in the production, however. While some tracks sound not too bad, on others you can tell it is an independent release. It’s great to see the band want to be involved in this process by self producing the record, however they still need to mature in this aspect to give the record a nice, full sound that we look for in music these days.
Overall, Saline’s sophomore album is a fairly solid release when taking everything into consideration. The band is talented and can craft some great tunes, but they just need to work on the execution and production a little more. Less Of Me is most certainly worth checking out for fans of the genre, but it still doesn’t stand out from the crowd as much as it could have.
latest release is entitled Less Of Me and is filled with some great hooks, infectious sound
and a rock solid message. Less Of Me is filled with both rockers and piano laced ballads.
The Cd kicks off with a great little rocker "Another Day" which sounds like a combination
of Kutless meets 3 Doors Down. I'd have to choose "Another Day" as my favorite track not only because the song totally kicks but the message is there. Speaking of messages "Less Of Me" doesn't lack in this category, there are no punches pulled here. Pure unabashed Christian lyrics which are very though provoking and will open your eyes to the glory you will have with a relationship with Jesus Christ. Plenty of good music on this Cd with solid rockers such as "The Answer" and "Back To You" which are infectious enough
to grab your attention and then stick in your head for the rest of the day at work (been there done that). Believe it or not the songs which really grabbed my attention are "All I
Ever Wanted" and "Hymn". All I Ever Wanted is a great power ballad that I can listen to
over and over again because I'm the sentimental type who Loves this type of song. Hymn on the other hand is a powerful piano laced worship classic which brought tears to my eyes
when I first heard it and had me praying to my Lord and Savior with unbiased Love and
affection. Hymn is truly an inspirational classic!!! Overall I'd have to say that this is a
very solid release from Saline. I look forward to seeing them around for years to come and
truly think success is right around the corner for them.
