Controversy re: A Reverend and a Rapper
Yesterday...02/17/2006
I had a conversation with a Hip-Hop/Rap producer and was told quite frankly; that there is no place in Gospel Music for Hip-Hop/Rap...Well needless to say...I strongly disagree...True the base language that occurs in most "Hardcore Rap" is inapproprate for the "House of God" but, as I listen to the message behind some of the songs...It is clear to me that many of the songs have strong views and need to be heard. As an Ordained Minister; I take offense to anyone who attempts to block any Artist from expressing what he feels about Christ...The Holy Bible is clear on that point.

Matthew verse 10 And the gospel must first be published among all nations. 11 But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.

Some producers will promote "Hard Core" rap for the sake of making money and getting their status uplifted...I'm not "hatin" on that aspect...But if the airwaves can be bombarded with such as a form of expression, Why "playaHate" when the name of Jesus is broadcast...

So for those like the one I spoke with yesterday want "Beef" brangiton...
I don't argue "Religion" becasue it's a useless point. Either you believe or you don't.

My Sisters and Brothers...
I will continue to support what's in your Heart...
"We can make our mouths say anything...once we learn to talk"
But you know what goes on when it's just U and your Heart.
