AKALLABETH - TRISTESSE
This is with no doubt one of the most climatic and saddest releases of the year. here we have a band whose music can be described as something like atmospheric doom metal with operistic elements. The music here is slow and climatic emphasizing dark passages and sad emotions. There are plenty of climatic operistic vocals here where the female vocalist shows her amazing vocal skills . And there are plenty of heavy slow guitar riffs that give the doom quality to the music emphasizing the heaviness of each of the compositions while emphasizing the overall feeling of the music here. Some piano and keyboards are added also to sharpen the sad feeling of the music here. The sound of the recording is direct letting you listen perfectly each instrument. Pure sadness and heaviness guaranteed, with excellent vocals.

Here we have a project that is based in two musicians. Their music is atmospheric and melancholic with lots use of keyboards. What makes it special are the female vocals that create an epic and dreamy feeling to the whole result. Unfortunately I don't have the lyrics of this material but it seems to be epic themes as long as I can see from the whole result and the name of the band that is taken from the work of J. R. R. Tolkien. The negative point though seems to be the omission of variety in the songs. I mean that although they are really nice in the end of the listening I got the feeling that I'd heard just one track that lasted almost twenty minutes, and this is not a good point when you have a material with just four tracks, because it can be a problem in a full length album for the band. I believe that if they put a little variety in their songwriting the whole result of their work will be much better because they seem to have the skills to create great emotions and feelings with their songs.
