If Jewel were to go out with a psychic, and that psychic were to pick her brain, and come back from that meeting with a portfolio of information on how to make a contemporary folk song, we would have a problem. How do you decipher information such as that? Call kate cassidy, acoustic one-woman state of feel. She could break that information into manageable bits of code that would come out quite close to "Shame The Devil"...... mailto:jaguar@abilnet.com

Kate Cassidy
Kate is a very talented vocalist with a great range and a tonal quality similar to Tori Amos or Jewel
Her songs are well written arranged and performed with great passion and expression.
Covering such genres as Folk Rock, AAA, and Country Rock she is very flexible in her vocal stylings
Cleopatra
Is a nice solo acoustic folk rock tune which allows her Celtic origions to shine through at times.
In Your Hands
A nice midtempo Adult Alternative Rocker
This tune is one I would not mind hearing a couple times a day on the radio.
It create a mood of tension and release much as Sheryl Crow does but with much stronger vocal performance.
This one has me hooked I keep going back and listening again. The strongest tune of the 4 on her page.
Bobby Bensley
“All By Myself” starts out as a soulful lament, which builds to an anthemic “all by myself again” hook which might sound contrived if not followed by the thoughtful “walking naked in the rain, walking barefoot in the sand”. Her soulful voice has shocking power and range. Just when you think she’s flat out wailing, she kicks it up another notch.
“Cleopatra” is another solo acoustic rocker. The ethereal verse quietly sets the stage for the Antony/Cleopatra eternal love saga. The song works much like Kate Bush’s classic “Wuthering Heights” as a basic retelling of a story, but adds a dimension of involvement or transference.
On “Free Yourself” Kate is accompanied by a band, but her performance is more subtle. The song is an introspective journey into self discovery. Her voice is lighter, more vulnerable.
On “Angry at the World”, Kate and her band take the opportunity of to kick some serious ass. She sings her heart out with the subtlety of a primal scream.
Some things are inherently hard to pull off. Really rocking out solo on acoustic guitar is one. Writing acoustic songs that immediately grab the listener without being overly sentimental is another. Kate Cassidy does both with apparent ease. While she is extremely impressive as a singer, Kate writes intelligent universal lyrics and catchy melodies.
