The Satellite Circle plays hard psychedelic 70s style rock and roll. The band is about bluesy Sabbath-meets-Skynyrd guitar playing, intense drumming, mad distorted bass and spacey vocals. All combined to take you on a journey way beyond the portal of the bone white rubber sun. And further.
Band/artist history
The Satellite Circle was formed in 1997 in UmeƄ, Sweden. The band grew out of a former project by guitarist Jonas Nordin, bassist Fredrik Holmgren and drummer/vocalist Jonas Ericson. The music can be described as 70s hard rock, influenced by bands like Sir Lord Baltimore, Black Sabbath, Mountain, Grand Funk Railroad, Peps Blodsband, Deep Purple, Bloodrock, Hard Stuff, Captain Beyond, Groundhogs, MC5, The Stooges and Hawkwind. In november 2000 The Satellite Circle released cd EP "Way Beyond the Portal of the Bone White Rubber Sun" on UK label Rage of Achilles. The five song recording is a heavy grooving blend of fuzzy unison seventies style riffing and loose psychedelic jam parts. The EP got a very good reception among both fans of the genre and critics. Read more about the making of the EP. July 30 2001 their self titled debut album was released on the same label. This record contains nine tunes and is a step further in the doomy seventies psychedelic blues direction established on the EP. Read more about the making of the album. Two years later, in July 1999, The Satellite Circle felt that their sound was knocked into shape and that the time was right to let the world know of its existence. A studiosession resulted in a five song demoCD called "Way Beyond the Portal of the Bone White Rubber Sun". The demo was well recieved and had a number of very positive reviews. All the tunes were quickly scheduled for release on a number of compilations in the U.S, Germany, France and the U.K. In February 2000 the band hit the studio again, recording a new demo consisting of nine songs. At this point, several record labels became interested in working with the band. After some consideration the London, UK based label Rage of Achilles was choosen. The deal concisted of an EP featuring the Way Beyond.. material and a full album with the new songs. Now, follow The Satellite Circle on their journey into the dark dephts of the seventies...
