Skeletal - Initiation Review
Release Date: 2007 06 05
Genre: Hip Hop

The Oath - After a few too many steps, Skeletal tells us that "I the initiate wish to signify allegiance to Rap". He swears to be abiding by it's rules, but what rules are there in Hip Hop? By listening to this you the listener are supposedly the witness to all of this. He goes on to say that he wants to "commit myself to this lifestyle". Just in case you didn't know, research what kind of lifestyle 'Hip Hop' leads. He promises to be real and "expressing myself for the glory of expression". It is a "test" to see if he is worthy. He's really into this, he goes on to say that he will not loose his 'Skeletal' identity "until it is lost with my life".

This is better if you've seen the video.
- The intro seems too long to wait for. It's a little corney.

= 1:44 - N/A/10

Rap Ritual - It starts out with a Big Bang. And then, "f*** a fan base, I'm after a cult following" is one of the memorable first few lines that will keep playing over and over in your head. "don't claim I got the most, but I do know I've got more than the average joes" shows on this track. "am I the only rapper that cares about the truth?" I am not sure, but I think you're one of few when it comes to Hip Hop. "Nas I promise I will carry on tradition" tradition? what tradition? "we should initiate rappers like cults" and then we wouldn't have so many dumb ass wanna be rappers running around, yey! one good idea! And then it starts "I can see Kool Herc wiping his tears" these are some of the quotes that talk about how Hip Hop went downhill - "Hip Hop's IQ fell", "good lyrics don't sell", "Rap needs to be re-newed". Yeah well I don't think Hip Hop's IQ was ever that high. Good lyrics sell, it's just the rapper that sucks. And rap is bein re-newed all the time. "I'm never dead wrong, I'm wrong dead" it doesn't really matter, you'd still be dead, rappers are getting killed all the time. "help me resurrect it" if it does get 'resurrected' it will be for a year or so and then again back to the b.s. "I'm afraid it's too late" Amen.

Certainly "Ill on the mic". His lyrics about hip hop are "tip-top". He knows his song structures. He recognizes the demise of Hip-Hop and he wants to resurrect it. Anyone who cares about this stuff would really take this to heart.
- Being white, he cares way too much about the state of rap.

= 4:45 - 8/10

Shattering The Silence - Skeletal shutters his silence, "I'm no longer tongue tied". "I need a reason to be hard as concrete" The only muscle Skeletal recognizes is the one in your brain. "Silent, but not today" nope!. "I'm about to rap, till I'm wrapped in a shroud", "passion flowing through my arteries" again about bein' loyal to rap. "my life I narrate it" well I'm glad.

A very good first single. Lyrics are in top shape. He manages to talk a little bit more about himself, with confidence. Second last verse is the best.
- The glass shattering is too loud, really resulting in less re-play.

= 4:58 - 9/10

It Doesn't Matter - "I'll never say I'm great" you sure about that? "rapper in a family of rockers and racists" I've heard this before. "this ain't my file, it's my lifestyle", "it doesn't matter I would still rap" ok ok, I get the point.

It's a nice summary for those who have not heard the old Skeletal about how he's white and the struggle that comes with that.
- He keeps on pressing it. Convincing people that either skinny or fat, or black or white he will still rap if you like it or not. In my opinion, like the song, it doesn't really matter.

= 4:24 - 6/10

My Own Breed - I love the beat on this track. I don't like the feature on this track. Want examples why - "I make beats bleed""f*** making beats bleed". CuJ goes on to say "f*** tradition", f*** tradition? Skel was just saying he will carry on tradition and he let this stay?.. Anyway I like the line - "it's my turn to turn my words into another verse". And when I heard "I'm unique a different breed, forget the next Eminem, who will be the next me" I was like WHOA!?" My point is "I'll never say I'm great" you sure about that?..."I'm the Chopin of Rap".."Hats off gentlemen, a genius." Want more?

I love the beat. I love Skeletal's verse. I love the idea.
- Cuj is whack, even with that flow. Btw, how big is the Ego?

3:37 - 8/10

Ailin' - The most originally creative track on this cd. "f*** a pill", "clean out your ears", "my skill is Illmatic", "gave up God long time ago", "not even a blitzkrieg will hold back this poles back", "I got an accent so I might mis-speak", "too ailin' to be critiqued", "the Rap game's tired", "I'm like the sun", "needle in the haystack", "enough of boasting" - these quotes speak for themselves.

This is the most creative song off of this whole album. I like the tone of his voice on the chorus. Lyrics are sick. He's aiming high. Not even a Blitzkrieg will stop this MC and if you think it will, just listen to the next song.
- Even with 3:33 on the clock it get's a little boring.

= 3:33 - 8.5/10

out- - "I'm going all out, I'm going all out, so watch your mother f*** ing mouth" that is the clearest 'f*** you' in the face of haters anyone could write. "it only took me 9 months to make this baby" he cares so much about his cd he calls it his baby, that's passion. "skel will never sell out, but he might outsell", "wrote my first rhyme at nine", "make more than one hit", "this is my outlet", "I debate the best, you won't hear the rest", "I'm going all out, by all means necessary" !

I get goosebumps every time I hear this song. It's a beautiful transition from Ailin'. I say this is the whole summary of this whole album and of Skeletal. I like the talk at the end. A lot of hard work went into this and it shows. This sh** doesn't just fall from the sky. This was like a warning to anyone who wants to play some little games with Skel...he will go all out on you doubters.
- Too much cursing.

= 3:34 - 8.5/10

Clurch The third single off of the album. I wasn't impressed.

I like the sample off of "The Last Prayer" but the song is just or a little above average.
- He's putting himself in the place of God... He says he's an exibit. Well, it's a little far fetched. The lyrics are not that good neither. I'm not talking about structure or w/e, it just doesn't seem real to self. I like the songs about Skeletal but I don't like it when his eagle grows too big that it becomes too far fetched. "Ahh f*** it."

= 4:09 - 7/10

Wipin' Away Eraser "My rhymes would be more useful, wiping my sh** " This is a nice little song. The frustration came out.

This beat is insane! This could go along with Ailin's originality and creativity, it's just too bad it ain't as good. This is like a self Help Track, what happened?
- First we get this strong MC going and going about how good he is and then he says he doesn't even believe in himself? I ain't understand a lot of things he says.

= 3:22 - 8/10

My World - Then it gets more depressing. It just went from frustrated to depressed. "Some want me to open up, huh? with what key?" "Do I have a purpose, or do I just wonder". Makes you think though. He welcomes you to his world. Take a look inside if you want to understand this whole person. This should explain everything, including why he doesn't talk.

Easy song, gives you some time to breathe finally.
- Seems like a really depressed world he's in...I wouldn't wanna come in.

= 4:14 - 7.5/10

Can't Wait - When I hear this beat, it is more depressing to my ears than it being a love song...but somehow it seems to work.

A feel good song. This was needed after the last one. His girl loves this song, so he reached to someone at least. I didn't like it at first, but now it's a pretty good song. I must say it's much better than "Let's Make Love".
- But it's still a love song and the chorus keeps repeating and repeating and repeating, I mean it's good, but..not my taste. I don't like the talk at the end.

= 4:48 - 7/10

Skeletal Remains - "Life is not worth living if it's not observed", "Sculpted by DNA, accidentally seeing day", "Knowledge is power, yet I feel power-less", "To eat or not to eat" - you will hear a lot of these in here.

I think I still like the older version better, the only thing is this one might have a better beat.
- I don't like the Chorus' echo's and Skel's voice on that.

Will Skeletal remain?

= 4:04 - 8.5/10
