Storybook
Rey Varela:

The song itself is very retro to me, like something from the sixties, not to worry there are people like myself who really dig sixties style music.

Your guitar playing is very clear and you play very well but in my opinion the vocals need work, they are a bit in the background recording wise. Also, the way you sing them with the doubling, they seem to get lost within themself...does that make any sense to you? I think if you bring the main vocal part up considerably and have the higher secondary part just in the background behind the other part it would help "define" the vocals.

I like your song, Storybook!
It has good writing and playing. The recording might be a bit on the 'live' side, meaning your mic is too far away and we're getting a room effect. Some layered guitar tracks would really fill this out.
Keep rockin'!

I found this to be interesting, I'm not quite sure how this song makes me feel but I listened several times and I even compared it to the original version.
Quite a difference as the original was just mostly you and your guitar!

I dont think the effects are overdone but te song has a bizzare texture that grows on you with repeated plays.

At any rate, an artsy piece with some very clever lyrics, worth my time and appeals to my strange side like Marcus always does!

Listened to your songs "Lonely Chair", "Jesse James", and "Invisible Man" and liked all of them. The guitar in Jesse James reminds me a little of early Meat Puppets. If you haven't heard them, pick up one of their cds.

Really like your voice and the writing--you get some good poignant lines in. Some of the images remind me a little of (you're going to laugh) System of a Down. Of course, the presentation is totally different... Also, the guitar sounds fine and suits your song styles well. I read your bio, and I know it must get you down, but sounds like you're doing fine to me. One of the great jazz guitarists, Django Reinhardt, was missing a finger or two and had to adapt his playing as a result, but it also helped him develop his unique style.

Nice work!

"You have made my day."

I love this. Having the balls to do something out of the mainstream is a rare and wonderful attribute. I am into a third listen and it will not be my last. The risk you have taken with this has paid off in a huge way. If there was some shit here, I would kick it.

"good outlaw song":

this song is well-produced. the sounds of wild horses and and the echoes of the voice set a distinctive mood. i particularly like the clip clap of hooves.

i could not really understand the lyrics though until late in the song.

the guitar plkaying is perfects for the song - not too much ,but strong enough to give a dark feeling to the song. especially at the time of the gunshot.

Bizarre folk craziness...
All I want to know is..What happened to the horse at the end? did they shoot it?
Ok, This was some bizarre, psychedelic folky madness. It didn't say anything, mean anything or even become remotely appealing as it went along. not sure what your going for here, but I get the feeling this is exactly the reaction you were looking for so...great job!
