You achieved the more interesting harmonic content quite well, and you still kept a lot of the ragtime feel. I guess ragtime has a pretty strong identity, if you can change half of the equation and have it keep it's identity. Nice one.

July 1984 - bursts of interval etudes arrainged in tense patterns of ascending and descending energy. The shear logic of the piece is compelling. You got me with that ending. I nearly fell out of my chair. It's llike a series of endings as it is, but organized so well I was just getting to feel I could anticipate your movements when thunk..... hehe
Definitely a fun piece to listen to and it sounds as if it was fun to preform as well. Good work as always.

That modulation at 0:50 is extraodinary. ...Dynamic!
But throughout the piece I love the incessant modulations which are very unpredictable, especially at the end of the piece where there are many rhythmic alternatives...

Very nice orchestral arrangements I also like how you mix pure synth sounds with more classical sounds as well how you work with the melodies/harmonies in the same way. Great work with the drum arrangements as well. This is something that I would love to hear with a full orchestra not because this doesn't do it to me more because it would be almost overwhelming and at the same time very interesting. Hope you understand what I mean. Anyway really great music!!

Michael, I love how the instruments bounce off each other... There definitely is dialogue interchanged here...I hear a rock influence in this piece, or possibly a motown influence. It's how you arranged the voices of the horns. I have heard a number of your works Michael and it's refreshing to hear you speak in so many voices.
That build up to that chord at 2:08 is fantastic!
I had to listen to this piece several times to truly understand the interactions between the instrumentation...
