DANEFIELD REVIEW
Every so often at your average school you'd have a band night, nothing spectacular;
5 or 6 bands each playing their short set lists, giving the young crowd a taste of what each band can do. Like most of these events the audience was waiting in expectation of the home band, and we'd have to stand listening to youthful bands just taking their first steps into rock. However this night the crowd got a treat, and were inflicted with a taste of a band which was there to do the business.

From the second the first note was heard the crowd were very aware that this band were here to play. The set opened with an intro, having missed the sound check this was a very tight instrumental piece that allowed them to get a quick feel of the venue. Flowing straight from the intro into "Web" the crowd are treated to the first vocals of Menelaous, (singer, guitarist). He gets straight down to business, throwing the energy into his
voice and singing every word with the deep feelings the song contains. The tempo drops for the introduction to the other side of Afflicted's music. A melodic tune never lacking the emotion that is the trademark of all of Afflicteds songs; every line meant just as much as the last. "Safe With Me"

Moving on from "Safe With Me" to the chilling "Erase”. The Tempo not as upbeat as "Web" but the effect just the same. The again melodic picking which is almost integral to many Afflicted songs does well to disguise the twisted lyrics, a song which is "live" friendly musically, and "album" friendly for the deepness and mind bending realisation of the conclusion of 'erasing you away'.

To leave the crowd on a high, Afflicted leave us with a straight rock track, -Mirror. Fast, plenty of kicks plenty of energy and plenty of enthusiasm. The crowd smiles across their faces are left with plenty to talk about. A band that was not heard of by almost all of the entire crowd were given a warm welcome and plenty of respect. Talk about the band spread throughout and was compared to the other bands there. In fairness Afflicted were THE band there, and the audience who had turned up to listen to there friends left chatting about, "THAT" band. They'll be talked about a plenty more..
