Debut EP Vertical Infinity.
The EP features 8 tracks produced by a range of different producers giving a good variety of styles.
The first track ‘Crushed’ comes as a chilled out introduction to the EP with deep lyrics touching OJBs personal issues.
My first impression of the second track ‘Vertical Infinity’ was that it was spoilt by the mcz featuring in it as they are clearly recorded in different places and are a lower quality. But the actual sound of the track is good after a couple of listens.
The third track ‘Freedom’ carries on with a nicely made beat that flows great with the vocals. This track I thought def had one of the best flows by OJB. I thought it was a short track but did the job as maybe if it went on longer it would have got a bit boring as it didn’t have a really distinctive hook.
Once again the a dope beat drops to begin the fourth track ‘Evilness’
This is a must hear track that with good flowing lyrics, this track again has no outstanding hook but is I thought was better than ‘Freedom’ as it was more up tempo and a better beat.
‘Please Forgive me’ is a well thought out track were OJB raps the part of two people one I think himself and the over God. I think this track brings out OJBs stronger side of producing lyrics. The beat is yet again well produced with a decent piano sample that helps determine the mood of the track. The only thing I didn’t like about this track was the guitar sample as it can become irritating after a while.
‘Backstab Me’ again I thought was spoilt by the quality of the featuring mcz, but the actual lyrics were ok by Alkatraz and Stamina. This is a slow beat with good production but I didn’t really feel the overall track much as I thought parts sounded a bit corny for example the intro.
What can I say about ‘How You Gonna’? Amazing beat, definitely the best flow on the EP and a good hook. This is my favourite track on the EP and gets the most plays out them all.
‘Future Aspirations’ is spat to a beat that sounds sort of like a Latin style.
I didn’t really feel this track as it was spoilt by the Yank accents by the featuring mcz at the end. This was a bit of a disappointment as there wasn’t a hint of any until the last track on the EP.
Some of the weak points I thought were the vocal quality as it did sound a bit home made. This isn’t a big issue today really as a lot of us UK artists know how much studio time costs and also the cost of today’s decent mikes and equipment.
I also thought that the EP could have been stronger without some of the guest mcz as most of the times they spoilt the nicely flowing tracks OJB was producing.
This EP is free as OJB isn’t allowed to sell due to the beats that were produced by different production companies and producers but he charges a reasonable Ł5 for postage and packing. I think this is defiantly worth a buy for an 8 track EP with mostly heavy tracks and wicked beat production.
I think this EP is very good and in no way should underestimate. Vertical Infinity will definitely get a lot more plays in my house.
