great passion of the Brazilians , because whenever we get something
to listen from a new band out of this region it’s dedicated to the one
or the other type of our beloved music.
Minatory from Curitiba has devoted themselves to the more extreme
kind and presents us eight classical , a bit blunt Thrash – tracks, that
are passing more than once the frontier to Death Metal.
„Spiritual Damnation“ sounds , in a positive way , naive, what , in my
opinion increases the fun of listening to it , for because of that they catch
easily the untamed charm of early Kreator or Death.
Especially the legendary Mille Petrozza of Essen seems to have influenced
the band because many tracks of „Spiritual Damnation“ , for example „Atrocities“
could even be part of „Terrible Certainty“ from Kreator.
As a whole, Minatory has done a good start where songs and sound is
capable of development in many ways.

MINATORY-
Spiritual Damnation
BRA Demo CD 2002
8 TRACKS: Age Of Collapse - Atrocities - Immortal Menace - Guilty - Cross Of
Souls - Wastedreams - Whispers Of Agression - Minatory
MINATORY are from Brazil and they present us their first demo CD, which
contains eight great thrash death metal songs with a total running time of
about twenty-five minutes. Eight short thrash death songs fill my room. It's
good to hear a female guitar player again. Their music is not that complex.
Nonetheless, it's very brutal and that's what counts when you're playing
death metal. The band exists for about three years now, and they've already
reached a second place at an unsigned band competition. In some songs, we
hear some thrashy polka beats, like in "Guilty". While other songs, like
"Immortal Menace", are a bit more in the brutal death metal style again. One
of my favorite songs on this demo is "Cross Of Souls", because of the nice
tempo changes. I hear some SLAYER influences in the guitar solos of Mili,
but the music of MINATORY is definitely more brutal than these thrash
legends. Especially the singer screams a lot angrier than Tom Araya. I don't
predict the band a golden future, but silver is nice too, I think.
