Angela Lang An Artist Overview
"I am not really sure how to categorize myself. I am influenced by a number of artists of different genres and eras. My family roots are in country and bluegrass, which I guess you can hear are fundamental influences in my voice. But naturally, you pick up different habits and nuances through the years listening to different artists. At the same time it's important to keep the "youisms" (cool word huh) in your overall sound."

I've been listening to Angela's work for some time now but I recently "re-discovered" her in a big way. Song's like "Lilac" and "Skip Don't Walk", showcase not only Angela's song writing ability but her naturally charming vocal style, she pulls the little nuances out at just the right moments and tugs at your heartstrings.

Listen to "Skip Don't Walk" found here and you will be transported to a warm and sunny day and a stroll down memory lane! A song about childhood memories that everyone can relate to because we were all there once in our lifetime.
You walk away feeling good about yourself and life in general.

On "Lilac" found here, you'll be reassured that no matter how hard life might get, there might just be a glimmer of hope if you remember the times when life was simpler.

"Just hold onto the days
when the laughter was real;
a playful Sunday chase
through our sacred field of lilac'

There is always hope!

"Shine" is a song that was inspired by the life and death of some one close to Angela:

"This song is about my nephew Christopher. He was born with a rare genetic disorder and was presumed by doctors to only live 3 months at the most. The fighter he was, he lived to the age of 7 and touched many lives with his smile and appreciation for things that most of us take for granted. I wanted to write a song that expresses not so much about his struggles, but the way I remember him. "

Listening to this song, one can't help but be happy that Christopher touched the lives of everyone around him in the short time he was here on earth.

Angela writes songs that are deeply personal, like many great songwriters, she doesn't have to be pretentious, all she has to do is sing about what is in her heart. The audience can only recognize Angela's true gift, that of heartfelt story telling and her sweet vocal ability that instantly sooths the soul. I for one have been won over and I highly recommend giving Angela a listen or two.

For wholesome, honest acoustic music with an Americana/Folk sometimes Country flair....

Skip Don't Walk - First off I'd leave the title at this simple phrase - very effective. Great acoustic guitar part - it's warm, pleasant and has a nice movement to it. I like your bridge gets it off the main groove - and then right back in - very cool. Skip don't walk is a great lyrical line and the lyrics are quite well written and bring the images to light. I think the first round of oooh's is a bit too loud in the mix and there is a slight stall in timing in your musical stop right after this part but these are minor flaws in a really excellent song. Love your vocal quality and it's obvious you have some control to use it effectively. Very listenable as far as recording quality. This one is in my favorites.

Trinkets For Talula - Another example of solid lyric writing. You can really put the pictures in your words and your voice makes it truly believable. Guitar is well played to a nice arrangement. No sore thumbs really stuck out for me on this tune.

Wishes Made Here - Wow, it just keeps getting better. You really have a great lyrical talent and a solid talent for songwriting. A great voice - really using it on this tune - and excellent musicianship. What's not to love about this tune. Very cool vocals at the end - nice feel and mood - and very creative.

Shine - Recording quality is not quite as good on this one as the above. Still a solid piece. Again wonderful lyrics and quality compostiition and musicianship. In some ways my favorite. Out of words - this is a great song.

Angela, I have to say you have one of the better overall sounds I've heard on these internet sites. You have a really special gift for writing lyrics and making them come to life and are able to push them into the music in a way that makes them accessible to a lot of people. You do remind me a bit of Shawn Colvin with the guitar playing, the lyrics and the feel. I have really enjoyed listening to the songs. Thanks so much for creating them. Michael

Trinkets for Talula
Angela Lang-
Trinkets For Talula-

This is a sweet sounding story-song. The story is solid and the vocal is reminding me somewhat of Oliva Newton Jon's earlier country stuff, without the sacrine mix of course. The music is right for the moment, and the solid folk-strum gives it a genuine appeal.

I like all the oohs and whatnot. I'm a sucker for that stuff when its done right.

This is a home-recording, but since its basically guitar and vocal with a backing over-dub, there's not much I could suggest production-wise. The song itself is strong and sweet and should get some more attention paid to it by a producer who could add the supplimental instruments to give a more ambient feel to it.

In my head, I can hear some hushed slide subtley making its way into the mix. About half-way through I'd add a high organ arrangement or piano to play off of the ooohs and aahs. Just a suggestion though. I like it the way it is actually. Very good song.
