Review for "Run Like a Girl"
Lovin it. As always-very tight percussive lines creativly programmed. Solid kicks and breaks with no bouncing EQ. Very phat moog bass lines.
This truly is some of the best work I have ever heard. Its got a real drive, a solid progressive feel and most of all it sounds stunning.
Some very clever little mylo-esque sample chopping, chemical brother style rolling drum loops and one killer of a build up.
Your starting to become a bit of an enigma here at petrol because you are so consistently good and most suprisingly not heard on the radio enough!
Very very good work.

Review for "Techno Nonsense"
Begins well-nice hihat lines with some very intuitive filter timing. Kicks in extremely well with those tribal-like kicks. Great little breaks in there crammed with crazily filtered vocal snippets-I can just hear this in a club going down enormously well.

Clever creative usage of compression to really add emphasis to those breaks-I love the way it seems to suck you in a spit you out every minute or so.

Production is great-hihats sizzle well over the top and those kicks rightfully cause my innards to vibrate.

I like this song a lot-In fact I think it has a hell of a potential to be a real favourite amongst DJs. Its not often (BELIEVE) that I hear dance music this good. A storming, thumping 4 to the floor cracker of a hard house track that is simply destined to be big.

Review for 'Realisation'
Realisation:

Much better, alot deeper and clearer with a real tinge of quality. Got my toes a tappin.
Great sense of awe as it progresses deeper, really buiuds on the atmouspheric detail well.
Into the build up now.. very nice, slowly filtering lead arpreggios, simple melodic line at first evolves well into the main hook effectivly. Yeah, I can imagine hearing this in a club, cracking 'vibe' about the whole thing, very commercial but with real talent!
Thankyou for taking out that nasty lead sound.. Replaced well with the brass-like build on the melody.
Well, I think your improvements have made this track better tenfold. I think this is a real floorfiller-formulaic but effectivly pulled off to create a very exciting song.
Top marks for this.

Review for 'Speaker Freaker'
Interestingly basic concept-clever filter effects on the kicks with a kind of glitch/tribal feel about it. Good rolling feel as always, progression is good as the song moves forward-hihats and added effects work well.
Breaks off nicely adding that good touch of variety.
I think this is great-it meets all the criteria for a good hard house track. Originality, innovation and great mastering.
Very well constructed beats and breaks, celeverly intermixed and pitch bent sound effects and samples to add that pace. I wouldent change this in a million years.
A very impressive and highly danceable peice.

well done!!

To The Club Review
Im sensing something very commercially viable here-especially with those vocals. Kind of reminded me of Underworld with its rolling kicks feel. Very stomping-testing my speakers to the limits here with this one. Liking the machine-like lead sounds, like a revving f1 car.. nice. Very original sounding house track, can see this one being great record for any DJ to be playing.
Great breaks and drop offs-mastering very professional. Can only decribe this as a kind of pulsating giant, absolutly outstanding build up at the 4min mark as everything begins to really lift up and go crazy.
Very clever percussive elements-those rattling snare drills work a treat along side the thumping kick. The added hihats and effects further add to this pacy drill-house track.
Im going out on a limb here-I think this is a hit and you should try your very best to market this one. I also think this is one of the best tracks you have made and if I were you I would be pressing vinyls right now.
An absolute stormer of a track-and one thats going straight in my mp3 player to keep me company on my way to work.
Brilliant work-and something you should feel very proud of.

Review for "Pies for Breakfast"
Very tribal sounding hard house, quite intense to a degree with lots of percussive elements to really get it all going. Stomping deep kicks and driving bass petterns with a lovely set of sqeaks and klonks to really set it all off. Great sense of progression as the song gets deeper and deeper as more percussive elements join and the leads begin to pur into the mix. Very effective slow introduction to the main melody with that machine-like pad sound, gradually giving way to a euphoric style lead arpreggio. Almost techno with those pitch bends in there, very reminicent of the early tip records trippy stuff.
Really enjoyed this one, the production is spotless this time with all the parts needed to crete a successfull song of this genre. The mix is fine-nothng bad to be said here. One tiny fault I would say is that it just a little lacking in variety. Apart from that a very strong and very viable track that im sure any hard house DJ would love to get there hands on.
Very good work!

Review for "Crispy Burnt Slags"
This one is great-a thumping rhythmical feel progressive in style with some nice little touches. Nice evolution as the hi-hats and little pips enter the mix, lots of shuffly breaks and sampled loops. I can see the laurent Garnier influence in this one-nice and gabba-like with that cool edge that just wants to make you sit up and dance. Not really any bad points to be said for this track, im pretty impressed at the overall quality of this-I can see it being just one of those tracks that DJ's will never get tired of laying just to fill out the dance floor.
Good layoff at the midpoint followed by and equally satifactory build up and re entry. Very nice. Just gets a little overdistorted in the few seconds leading up to the the reentry.
Class work, in fact one of the best I have heard from you.

'Tiknologi' Review @ Petrol Music
Marco Rossi

“tiknologi” Another great track from this regular submitter, begins with a nice fast paced break beat followed on by a thumping kick reminiscent of underworld. Cleverly effected vocal parts and synth screams work well to bring up the overall vibe of this gabba-like house track. Nice little breaks and builds give lots of variation and keep up your interest, and the evolution of the track as a whole is very slick. Bit of a marathon track being 7mins long, but definitely enough in there to stem repetition. Fantastic build up on the 4min mark with the building string parts and drawn out drum rolls, dropping you back in to the main core of the song with great satisfaction. Another great track from this very talented electronic musician. 8/10.

Let Me Show U / Body Groove Review
Marco Rossi(again)

Let me show U-
Hardcore dance with lots of distortion from the outset, and really rather creative. Very original sounding bass line and shouting vocal/synth effects. Its loud, very loud!
Mad percussion, very well produced, and most of all very original. Its all to easy to make a hardcore song these days, and rarely do I hear one that has such a brilliant amount of new ideas, even if the piano riff is ahem.. a rather obvious rip off, but will let that one go.. at least you effected it up enough to make it sound very fresh. I am giving you extra marks for this song, because rarely does a hard house song impress me. Very good work, a real creative flair that's very much needed in this genre, Your going places. 9/10.

Body grove-
Very deep, fast and hard, and with a bass line so big it demands 2 seats in the cinema. A little more basic this one, but effective enough to pull of a very effective dance floor filler. I found myself tapping my foot furiously to this one, and unusually for me I did play this one around 5 times.. The break into the build is really class! Lots of robotic rhythmical vocals, deeply filtered synth lines and screaming mad arps, all developing into a very cool sounding track. Oh, I said you are going places? Let me rephrase that.. You are definitely going places. Outstanding work, worthy of a lot of praise. 8/10.

Reviews Received for 'SPACE WAVE', 'INHALE' and 'FOLLOW ME'
"Space wave" A good, easy to mix intro with solid sounding beats to draw in the listener and befriend the DJ. The main melody uses a somewhat basic motif using a strange lead sound with an odd "honking" quality. There's some good use of filters to define the little breaks in the sections of the tune. Up until the break at 3:35 the track is fairly pedestrian, after this point though it seems to really find a much stronger groove. From here until the end the tune pretty much hits a plateau but changes enough to maintain listener interest. It's hard to review a track sat here alone when it's intended to be enjoyed by a crowd in a club, but the track does have a bit more about it to make it more than pure dance floor fodder. I was less keen on the "vocal ahh" or vocal ooh" sound. That was just a little too GM (General MIDI) preset sounding to my ears & possibly one cliché too far. There's no danger of this tune breaking any new musical ground but it's perfectly good for dancing to. On the technical side, the mix is strong, well balanced and healthy in terms of volume.
"Inhale" This tune is fairly old school in terms of the melody style. A simple banging & 'aving it kind of thing. Good production values but a bit gritty too. Interesting breaks section thrown in which takes me back to the sounds of the early 90's. Nice. Lots of fun & quite silly in places. I was half expecting it to mix into "Everybody's in the place" at the end. Let's GO!
"Follow Me" This was probably the least sophisticated or subtle of the tracks but it's possibly my favourite. This tune starts with a relentless pounding kick drum. There's a hilarious squeal of bass that comes in every so often & it comes with a guarantee to put a smile on your face. One the whole the mix seems a little harsher than the previous two but it's still very strong sounding. The melodies are basic and it's all about the rhythm. The four on the floor would probably be knocking the crap out of my kidneys if I heard this in a club. Gotta love that stupid bass noise though. Again there's something very old school about the tune. It reminds me of stuff that we used to dance to at motorway service stations on the M62 (he said showing his age). Top one, nice one, get sorted. All in all Spectrum 69 has produced some very fine & fun tunes: retro influenced without being derivative, banging beats & driving bass. Well produced but could probably benefit from a second set of ears to master the final mixes. -Kelv
