IOM Magazine's review of "Forbidden Desire"
Forbidden Desire is a classic example of what makes Josiah Barlow’s music what I consider to be a cordial invitation into his realm of compositional excellence. His graceful agility maps out a trail of adventure into the unknown and leads the way to a cure for the soul’s many ailments. He can always manage to amaze me with every new and magnificent piece of his expressional statements of feeling.

Review of Sunset Rose
A song filled with compositional excellence from the first note to the last. This piece of music features lovely piano melodies, striding peacefully down a warm, sunlit path, amidst the freshly revived trees of springtime. As light strings garnish the senses, you can almost smell the lilacs, as the music paints nothing but pleasant pictures in your mind. As you listen to the music of this talented artist, you'll undoubtedly feel the passion and love that he puts into his beautiful songs.

Mike Milillo, friend and musician states the following.....
Everyone in this life meets people that may or may not have a
lasting impression upon them. Well Josiah Barlow is one of those
people that struck a major chord with myself.
Initially, listening to Josiah's music, I did not fully understand the sublime
importance of his approach. Universally speaking, music can be a therapeutic outlet
whether that was the intention of the composer or not. Well Josiah writes with that
specifically in mind. When I listen to Joe's music, my vantage point has been elevated to fully
understand what this gentleman is trying to convey. He documents his passion for life and
his love for the human race in subliminal musical passages. The reason I use the word
subliminal is because, like myself, there may be people who are not fully cognizant of Josiah's
intentions.
Music is merely an extension of who Josiah is. Many of us use music to express ourselves
where another avenue of expression will simply not do. But for Mr. Barlow, music is just used
augmentationally, because his point of view will be conveyed aptly simply by articulating his thoughts.
My life, for one, has been touched in a positive way by meeting this individual, and
I have used Joe's music for medicinal purposes. I can now honestly say I understand how Joe
chooses to sculpt the air molecules, which is, with a passion not bestowed on many…

Lana J. Albert reviews the song "My Chance"
GENRE: New Age
SIMILAR ARTISTS: Yanni, Patrick O'Hearn, Winston Marsales

The song My Chance by Josiah Barlow is a laid back emotive piece which involves piano padding and ethereal synth usage over light electronic percussion. The slow progressions of the song lend for more of a contemplative, rather than urgent or aggressive nature.

First off, the build up of this piece is very good, and very patient, using drums in the right place and using ascending chord progressions. There are no flaws anywhere in the song, and no points of awkwardness or unnecessary repetition.

This song would be good in a movie, and in a very good presentation, or even as a website music (as a Flash website unfolds or presents). Also, there has been a market for this type of music (See Soundscapes, the Seasons, Dreamscape, Solaris), and I believe Josiah's work would rival all the artists who are currently doing this type of work for money.

In short, My Chance is a very good song...well crafted and well produced, and a true representation of the New Age genre.

Friend and Musician Ed Drury gives his opinion on "Rythmn of the Wilderness"
I'm glad you got this one out of tape archive! Very powerful undercurrent rhythmically which builds nicely. I think a little volume boost would be nice, but the dynamics of the pieces are delicious. I love that consistent medicine drum, is that you playing an elk or deer skin frame drum live? It sounds wonderful. The movements melodically are powerful and sweeping. It's confident and bold and yet sweetly compasionate emotionally. This music goes straight to the heart and would be perfect in film especially in surround sound.

Fellow New Ager Lana J. Albert says:
Hey Josiah! It's a pleasure to meet another keyboardist and composer! I'm listening to your music now and am really enjoying New Discovery! I'd say you're doing more with 1 1/2 hands than most do with 2. But the emotion is the huge thing....your music is packed with it!

I think a full pager of your music would be good for my heart and soul today!

Rocker Muncie shows support for the softer side!
"Introducing myself....the One-and-a-Half-Handed Keyboardist!"

Well, sounds like 3 or 4 to me!!

Seriousy though, I've taken the time to listen to some of your music this morning. You obviously have some real talent. I can tell you're an emotional person and it comes through in your music. If you're not doing film scores now, hopefully you will be soon.
Good luck and I look forward to hearing more of your beautiful arrangements!
