Sam is a songwriter/musician/producer/performer based in Nashville, TN since 2006. Before that relocation, he was a performer/sonwriter/producer for 34 years in NJ. He has been a multi-instrumental musician since he was ten years old. At the age of 18, in 1970, he started working professionally. As owner of Jerricat Music (SESAC), he produces and distributes original music.
Sam Cooper hails originally from Richmond, Virginia, but moved to New Jersey in 1972 at the age of 19. As a child, as soon as he could make noise with any implements (musical or otherwise) and sing, he did. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University. Before leaving NJ, he had spent 34 years playing professionally and also had various gigs, including as a music journalist, a road manager and a recording engineer. He has been based in Nashville, TN since 2006, where he produces music, writes songs and occasionally still performs live.

PERFORMING--As a performer, Sam has worked in many styles of music and played solo as well as with a number of bands. Over the past few decades Sam has performed from the east coast to the west coast, as far north as ski slopes of New England and as far south as the blue waters of the Caribbean.
Mainly a vocalist, guitarist and bass player, Sam has been performing professionally.

MUSICAL GEAR--In his stable of musical equipment are guitars, basses, and other fretted instruments by Gibson, Heartfield, Fender, Gretsch, Baldwin, Martin, Gibson, Epiphone, Takamine, Ibanez, Yamaha, G & L, Danelectro, Sekova and Falcon. Sam records and/or plays keyboards including Wurlitzer, Roland, Hammond and M-Audio keyboards. Other instruments in the inventory include a banjo, trumpets, trombone, tenor sax, flute, piccolo, harmonicas, ukele, and various percussion items. For live performances, Sam prefers singing through a Shure SM-58 mic, but for recording, he opts to use an AKG C414 or a Baby Blue Bottle going through a MOTU 8M. When not running directly into P.A.'s or recording consoles, Sam has a variety of amps from Fender, Ampeg, Acoustic, Carvin, Hartke & Peavey, His standard pedalboard setup includes Boss noise reduction/power, tremolo, eq, and digital delay pedals. For some live performances, Sam would occasionally employ his wireless Samson system for guitar.
