Music
I have a special love for Jamaican music; reggae, dancehall, dub, you name it. That love (and respect) is at the heart of what makes Bad Man Sound a special track for me personally.
I've always liked the sound New Order were into around the time of Blue Monday and this is my salute to a great track. It isn't, of course, Blue Monday itself. I'm way too weird for that ;)
Nothing whatsoever to do with the ever increasing Cassandra claims about this flu or that virus. Pan in this case being the word to describe Jamaican steel drums, the main instrument in this track.
Stand up for a new hero, just like the old hero.... Yeah, I know I'm an old cynic but I still believe... A genre bending stomper, someone called it.
Some songs just roll right out, almost fully formed and some have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the daylight. I wrestled with this for two years, the longest I've worked on any track, and finally got this version.
I admit that this is a frisky track, all down to those incredibly sultry vocals and funky stuff. One of those tracks it became a joy to work on, and like a lot of my tracks, best played loud
Every once in a while I just want to lash out and throw myself into a mad frenzy, so I thought I'd better write a soundtrack to go along with it... Play very loud.
I've been known to dabble in all things Oriental and this track follows in a grand tradition. Probably one of the most sweated over tracks I have done in a long while, lots to take in.
One of my favourite comments from people when I review their tracks :) Love the groove in this one, something to let just wash over you.
There are a few 'softer, prettier' tracks on Inter Alia than my normal raucous output, Sense Of Wonder is one of them and by gosh by golly it's ALMOST a ballad...
One of my own favourite tracks from Inter Alia, the rhythm of this just gets me. Originally built out of the piano solo that starts it, Signs Of The Times, developed pretty much of its own accord - the best kind of tune.
If the drum track sounds odd in this its because it is old, old and cleaning it was impossible... I've always liked the sound of brass in music and When The Horns Blew is about as jazzy as I get

Another mixture of classical and electronica. Put this on, get some inspiration into your system and imagine the dawn coming after a hectic night out...
It was that 'give me sound' sample wot started it.. This track went through lots of changes and each change left a mark...
One of the highlights of the CD, at least IMHO. Quite possibly the first time I have ever been able to fuse classical and me usual rhythmical malarky AND have it work.
Partly inspired from someone I met through Soundclick's new friend system, this track is dedicated to Haldeja. Musically, as you'll find, it mirrors a lot of the sound(s) Something Special is built on; lots of different flavours.
