When The World Went Blind (An Eye For An Eye)

All music by Tyler Dedera. 2008
States Of The Mind is Tyler Dedera. I've lived in Flagstaff Arizona for most of my life and spent a couple years in Iowa going to school, where I was lucky enough to be around some very phenomenal and inspiring musicians. I write, record, perform, mix & produce all original material. I play guitar, keyboards, piano, bass & drums. States Of The Mind used to primarily be my electronica project, even though I've always mixed together alot different genres like rock, industrial, and even a little jazz, the rock side of it seems to be growing sharper all the time, what I like to call "Rocktronic". This music is mainly art inspired and usually very experimental. If my life were a movie these songs would be the soundtrack, thats my main thought usually whenever I write a song. I've been writing & recording this material since 2000. It mainly just started out as an experiment and side project from other bands I had been in, but it's been the most consistent musical project in my life as of recently.
Band/artist history
I've played in several different bands. From Black Pyramid and Setting Up Shop and String Theory, to Page Of Concrete and Need Seed Insanity and Country=Corporation. I've played drums in most bands I've been in, even though the guitar is my primary instrument of choice. Drummers are hard to find I guess.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
No but I'm looking to start a band to re-create and re-arrange my tunes to perform live though...(Anyone in the Flagstaff area interested, please get a hold of me!)
Your musical influences
The order changes all the time, but mainly bands and artists such as Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Mogwai, Neurosis, Sonic Youth, Comets On Fire, Nine Inch Nails, Black Sabbath, Massive Attack, The Mars Volta, Tool, The Bad Plus, Rage Against The Machine, The Misfits, UNKLE, and I could go on & on really.
What equipment do you use?
I've used many different types of equipment. I started out with my cheap little 4-track tascam tape recorder. Then when I moved to Iowa, I had use of their recording studio there, where I used programs like pro-tools, garageband, reason, and they're awesome KORG keyboard (can't remember the exact model). I currently use just garageband because thats what came on my computer, so its all I really have right now. Every guitar I've ever owned has always been an IBANEZ.(Except for my 1st axe, which was a cheap Peavey I got from the pawn shop.) All my amplifiers I've ever owned have always been CRATE. I own a digitech whammy pedal, and a cheap little DOD effects processor with about maybe twenty or so different effects on it.
