Jamaar aka "THE FUNK JUNKY", has been singing and producing for 8 yrs now, and is currently working on a project, to show his creative side as an artist from a city that is barely known as a Musical Town. On his upcoming album, Jamaar has worked with musicians that has played and recorded with Erykah Badu, Keite Young, Geno Young, Yolanda Adams, Musiq, Bilal, Tonex, and Myron Butler. Jamaar believes that there is still space left for hardworking upcoming artists such as himself to bring a change to the music industry. Jamaar is currently writing and producing for upcoming artists, who are expecting to release projects this year, as well as recording his project. He quotes, " I do everything GOD allows me to through Jesus Christ, who strengthens me."
Jamaar aka The Funk Junky, born and raised in Dallas, Texas, has been in the music business for a total of 6 years. During the first 2 and half years, of course, he spent time developing as an artist, but had a hard-time coming across a stable producer, that he was able to grow with. Therefore he took the ardasity to become his own producer. NOW rolling into his 7th year in the industry, he has been rocording his first project titled, "MY EXPRESSIONS of LOVE and LIFE", which is expecting to release next fall of 2009.
Also, In the process he is in search of a distribution deal, therefore he can sale regional independently, like r/b jazz artist Chemistry who sold over $10,000 units before he was signed. Jamaar on the other hand is working on upcomings r/b artists and hip hop as well. The anticipation of the release of his CD, is currently increasing from local fans, DJs, and friends.
Lastly, Jamaar's vision is to leave a sustain legacy worldwide for the Music Market in Dallas, Texas, to show the city of Dallas has talent but that does not have enough representation. There is a lot of talent coming from Dallas behind the scenes, but not enough upfront, to gain respect as a Musical Town.
I love performing live, but will perform with a cd show if I have to.
