Interview
I write parodies for fun and because I don't have a lot to do at night during the week. I record them. Want Me To Write A Parody of One Of Your Favorite OR Least Favorite Songs, Email me, I enjoy it. I also will sing over pre-made tracks in a non parody format, believe it or not I can sing seriously too. . .just contact me, making music is fun for me. Check out my website at badave.com for more info! In case anyone is curious, my backing tracks are created by and used with permission by karaoke-version.com/en. They make some really cool karaoke tracks and are very approachable people.
Why this name?
The original sound quality of my recordings. Honestly that's it, I'm also a below average bowler so it just fits. You may have seen me on here before as Adrenaline Boy or Skitt--but those names were too serious for me.
Do you play live?
Not Really. I like performing live, and am not against it . . .just wouldn't know where to do a live performance of a parody.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Heck, my parodies would only be mine if not for the internet/mp3 industry. It allows me to share my music. I'm no fool-I know I can't make my music to the quality of Weird Al Yankovic, so I don't try--no one would pay for it unless I actually went out and got a band together to help me with my music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Realistically no label would even think about signing me unless they had a band for it and most parody artists out there suddenly went on strike. Even then I'd be skeptical, but would I sign--of course--who wouldn't
Band History:
Well I've written parodies since I was a kid. I want to record all of them--but over 100 songs is just too much. . .I hope to maybe get a better recording strategy someday, but until then my history is what you see here.
Your influences?
Wierd Al Yankovic is about it. Ever since he stepped in a fat suit and ran around a parking lot I've written/sang parodies
Favorite spot?
St. Louis or Chicago--love both--beautiful parts of Chicago and the Navy Pier, then St. Louis with it's amazing food (Toasted Raviolis) and Historic Soulard District.
Equipment used:
A Shure SM58, Magix Music Maker, I also occasionally use Audacity for slight effects, but generally prefer Music Maker
Anything else...?
Want me to write a parody of a favorite song of yours? Email Me! I also do websites on the side--my language is PHP/MYSQL and of course HTML, but I have learned Javascript, Perl, and CSS as well.
