Nick Cardilino is a co-writer of the theme song for the 2007 National Catholic Youth Conference, called "Discover the Way." This is also the title of his third CD, which contains all Contemporary Christian Music.
His previous CD, More, contains everything from techno to traditional country, from Latin to contemporary Christian, and everything in between.
Nick and fellow co-writers have won a song contest sponsored by Tunesmith two years in a row with songs called "Hearing Voices" and "Takin' Time." He has also had songs cut by Teresa Smith, Amplify, and Ashley Lynn and numerous songs used at weddings and church services.
As a performer, Nick can be found playing at coffeehouses, churches, youth/young adult gatherings, and the like. He also spends a lot of Saturdays playing wedding ceremonies.
I have a friend who once said, "I don't get musicals. They're walking along, and then all of a sudden, they'll just break out into song." Well, there must be something wrong with me, because I often think in songs, and if it weren't so socially taboo, I'd break out in song all the time. I guess that's why I've sung in church choirs and written songs for so long.
I got serious about writing songs and started learning the craft about 10 years ago. Jim Melko, our local songwriting guru has taught me more than I could have ever imagined.
I recorded my first CD "the Workings of Grace" in 1999. My second CD "More" came out in 2005. And "Discover the Way" in 2007.
Usually. Occasionally I'll play dead and it freaks out my wife.
You can catch me on occasion at local coffeehouses. Email me (njc@udayton.edu) and I'll put you on the infrequent newsletter I send out.
I love playing out and wish I had more time to do it. My favorite moments are playing with my fellow local singer-songwriters in-the-round.
Paul McCartney, Steven Curtis Chapman, Rich Mullins, Don Henley, Carole King, James Taylor, and Steve Seskin.
