All my recordings are as a full band - but the band is just me.
My split personalities and alter-egos have been making music together since we were 10 years old, previously gigging regularly in Nottingham with two bands until moving to the South West of England in 2003.
Crazy Quilt Bouquet (CQB) were born in Nottingham (UK) in the late 90s then abandoned their hometown to take Devon by storm. It was raining heavily when they arrived.
Haven't played live recently - I have done a lot previously, solo and in bands - would like to again soon.
I would cite the main influences as being Robyn Hitchcock & Elvis Costello, but it’s hard to comment on your own stuff! CQB write and record their own original compositions and are not trying to sound like anyone else so comparisons aren't always useful because people hear different things - however - some have said CQB remind them of music as diverse as XTC, The Eels, David Byrne, The Barenaked Ladies, Kingmaker, Hefner, The Beatles, Half man Half Biscuit, Trash Can Sinatras, REM, Beautiful South, The Lucksmiths, Velvet Underground... and many more! And I guess they all class as influences.
Anything I can get my hands on.
I 'need' harmonies and a catchy tune and I'm still a sucker for a jangly guitar.
We don't know where we come from, we don't know where we go, what better thing to do while you're here than to write songs about it?
