This morning a friend was hunting on my property so I quietly started my vehicle making sure to turn down the blaring Pieces of Time CD I have in my player. I headed two blocks down the road before it occured to me that I was driving in silence so I glanced down to turn the volume up. As I raised my eyes to the road there stood a ten point buck directly in my path. Time seemed to pass in slow motion as my brakes somehow brought the truck to a stop with barely three feet to spare before I creamed the deer. I recall feeling remarkably calm about the whole ordeal as I observed his body frozen in front of me. He turned toward me, our eyes locking in a stare and we remained like that through almost the entire length of Never Been This Way Before.... now that's some soothing music!!
