Hi Skeeter...
Thanks for steering me to this track...it IS a bit different than what I usually hear from you.
Since you wanted me to critique this one...here goes...
First off...I really like the big chunky guitar sound...it's a bit more "in your face" than a lot of your other stuff. The drums on the intro could have been a bit tighter...in fact I might have waited until the song really kicked in before I would have brough them in at all...it might have given the intro more of a dynamic.
The main vocals are nicely done...and pleasantly up in the mix. By 1:30 in (first solo) the band is cooking. The harmony vocals...and the "answers" sounded a bit strained...you might want to find a different register to sing those lines. I know it's tough to do...when you've been hearing a song in your head a certain way for 30 years...but I have to that myself on some of our tracks...and once I get comfortable with a slight change in melody to accomodate the voice I have today...it isn't long before I don't even hear the older version in my head anymore.
The funny thing is...you pulled off those high backing vocals great towards the end of the song...so you CAN hit those notes. I think maybe you should not settle for less than you are capable of doing...just to call a song "done." A re-do of those vocals would really make this track a lot better. Great guitar solo at about 2:45...and Iliked the lyrics...and the ending.
I gave this current version a 4-Star rating...because I know if you do a bit of work on this one...you can straighten out the few areas that could improve some...so I thought I'd kick you in the ass to get that done. LOL.
Nice one Skeeter...I dug this.
Hugs...Mike (NAV)

Excitement right from the start! I like the drive and tempo of this tune a bunch. One minute it almost sounds Celtic, the next it has the exotic feel of an open air marketplace spinning around you... The music was so captivating I spaced the lyrics!

This is a beautiful song in every regard--a fitting tribute to one of my favorite singer/songwriters. It's perfect, really, as is...but I can hear a little steel, maybe a mandolin...
I'm swamped right now, but when I come up for air sometime soon I'd like to offer my two cents...it would be an honor to play on this one.

Very catchy number.
Some sweet guitar playing and a tasteful kick in of the organ.
The song gets better twords the end.
