Hi there Daren,
great to hear from you and a nice newsy mail too
So you came to Cambridge Corn Exchance hey! Hope you enjoyed your evening and the gig was bound to be excellent, they say the Corn Exchange is not the best of acoustics but I find it depends who's playing LOL!! And being that tall you were bound to have a good view!
Well Mr Woodpecker hasn't been in the garden for a few days but if I remember rightly we only saw him for a short while last year too, just within the space of a few weeks, maybe even two weeks, and then we didn't see him again until this year. But it's a real privilege to see such a colourful wild creature locally and up as close as that, he was digging in the ground for something and really energetic over whatever he was trying to get, probably a worm or a slug.
The new acoustic sounds like it will inspire you to create more music and good luck with that, and let us know how it goes and if you post a new song.
Oh and I nearly forgot, when you said you had tried to call the woodpecker by immitating its sound, well we have a friend in Norfolk and he makes different calls for the blackbirds that live around his house, and one in particular, he's named wonky because he has some kind of limp, well he actually comes to call !! And our neighbour here had a blackbird friend for many years, he could feed him by hand, amazing isn't it. Nature is a wonderful friend.
Well I'm writing a book in your message board here so I'll say goodbye now and catch up with you again soon.
Take care and all the best,
love from Maria & Paul xx

I'm leaving for Scotland to study abroad in a few days and funny I should fall upon "free". I always love the harmonica/guitar combo. A hint for recording that I've found to avoid the fuzzy sorta blurry sound is to lower the sensitivity of your mic or back up from the mic a bit more. Also it sounds like you arent using a pick in that song. Try strumming a bit softer to make sure you hear the vocals nice and clear. I hope Scotland is as beautiful as you are expressing. Best wishes. -Rich

Daren,
Hi there !!!! I want to thank you for taking an interest in the project that I am involved in regarding passing the message on about what we all can be doing to save our planet for future generations.
The Greg Allen Interview is a very special opportunity to bring people together in their communities and hopefully create discussion, and even, in our best hope, motivate people to take action in their own living spaces to help aid in the healing of our eco system.
As you discussed in your posting on the Zest Radio Show message board, you are a horticulturalist that has seen many patterns of the evidence of the changing environment due to mankind's lack of respect for our natural resources and, in essence, the continued destruction of planet Earth itself.
Your knowledge and careing attitude is a sign to me that the topics discussed in the interview are relavent now, and, unfortunately may be relavent for quite some time.
However, you have given me even more motivation to continue spreading the word and message out there to our fellow human beings in the hope that we can all pull together and initiate the changes required to preserve the greatest gift to mankind, planet Earth.
Many blessing to you Daren for taking an interest in the Greg Allen Interview project. If I can ever be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me, and I'll be happy to assist you in any way I possibly can. Thank you again for your concern and insights !!!!
PEACE !!!!!
Paul D. Richmond / Zest Radio Show
P.S. Here is a poem that the wonderful and talented, Maria Daines wrote as she was inspired after listening to the complete, Greg Allen interview.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
To save or not to save...
When rainforests have given their last wooden breath
When blue seas have choked in a swell of grey waste
When mankind has taken each stone from her chest
And the old world creaks with a bitter unrest
When the air of her lungs is stretched with the bile
The swill and the clutter of human revile
When holes fill the sky and the moon wants to cry
Shall we all stand aside and let the earth die?
Dedicated to Greg Allen, Paul Richmond and Steven West

Hi Daren,
just calling by to say hi and see how you are, hope all is well, I'm listening to 'seasons come and gone' a lovely wistful tale with sweet reflections, nice folk tale that never ages, this kind of music will always be playable and listenable because it's just a person and a guitar, a voice and imagination, keep up the good work and writing your songs, now winter's here we can all hibernate with music for longer - great!
best wishes,
from M&P xx
