Hi Tony!
How you be? I got stuck in Nebraska for a couple of days, but the roads are clear now, and I will be moving tomorrow if God forbid nothing happens.
It's been awfully cold..the coldest I'd seen it was negative 16 degrees, that's right 16 below zero, dang, now THAT'S cold!!
I came by to spin and grin at you tonight.
I hope all is well.
Your friend,
Tammy

Hi Tony,
I finally got those pictures out to you. I was having some trouble sending, maybe the pics were too big? Anyways, you're right about burning the midnight oil, always takes longer than you think...must be from watching too many home improvement shows that only last 30 minutes
I just have to work on finishing the moldings...finishing details never my favorite.
Thanks for the holiday wishes. I hope you had a good turkey day too!

Hi Tony,
Sorry I vanished off the face of the earth. No excuses really. I just got so involved in other things, i.e, my guitar teaching, working with "Maggie's Guitar" plus the usual work type things.
What also didn't help was my computer blowing up and dying on me. I eventually got a new one, but with the dreaded Vista that won't run any of my old software, including Cubase. I'm getting a free upgrade to Windows 7 but I'm not sure that will be a lot of help. I finally relented and ordered a new version of Cubase which I'm still waiting for. Hopefully I'll get some new stuff done when that arrives.
Sadly, I notice there hasn't been too much activity from a whole host of my old friends on here. That's a shame as we had such a camaraderie going, right?
Take care,
Ron

Aw thanks, Tony; I appreciate the kind comments you left; and I KNOW for sure now that great minds think alike; I kept hearing a full production with the screaming guitar, strings and the whole works; a 16 beat ballad is what this one was written; kind of a Chicago style pop, if you know what I mean, but could NOT get it to come through or together. So I did the acoustic version for now. And I'm STILL hearing something in my head I could do later with more time; and it even has a chord change up for the final chorus.
I figured you'd get me for the mistakes in timing I did with the harmony, LOL!! I had a few, but for lack of time, I didn't fix them, as I normally would do. And I didn't catch one or two until I'd already uploaded the file.
I had gone that day, and gotten the high definition driver for the Real Tek soundcard; installed it, (I'd done this before my computer crashed before, but it hasn't been until now that I remembered what I'd done previously) and when I set up to record, I got a huge surprise, I was back to NO distortion, and a lower recording level; which I need for my BIG mouth, and no one to help me, LOL!!
I removed what noise there was from my vocals with Goldwave, using a setting I created for Noise Reduction, saved the treated files and reloaded them back along with the piano track I created(by the way that was Ballad keys I used by accident, thinking I was using a Natural Grand; best mistake I ever made, eh?)...mixed it all down, and was amazed to no end, sounded LOVELY in my stereo system, was afraid to do anything else, so, I uploaded it.
It took me four hours from starting the track to final production to get it all done. I used a minimum of reverb, EQ and little compression, to keep it natural, and mastered it all directly out of Ozone 4.
That gives you a great idea of what I really sound like...I never liked much polish on my vocals, anyway, would rather sound as natural as possible.
The funny thing, too, was that I really didn't have ANY idea for harmonies, thought I would have to do some "Aaahs" or something, but the harmony just started coming out my mouth as the ideas were coming like lightning, and it turned out so well, I just left most of it, didn't take out much.
That won't happen again, LOL!!! A lot of weird things happened that day, and I'm thankful they did.
Regarding Noise reduction, what I generally do is create my project folders separately from the beginning, putting them on the desktop so I can locate the audio folder the files go into, then, once I do my vocal recording, I close my project, open Goldwave, and access the files within the project folder loading them directly into GW; I then do my noise removal, then just click save, and it overwrites the file, and saves it. I do each one the same way.
Once done, I reopen my project, let it do it's thing, which means that it will "replace" the files with my NR files.
I then click save in the project, then go on about my business of doing the rest.
I don't have to do any converting, as GW will handle the 64 bit files without a problem.
I never remove noise from instrumental tracks..like you, I make sure they are hot enough not to have any noise; but that is not always possible for a vocal; sometimes it's better to be a little below -6db, recording vocals and just raise the volume with compression to where you need it to be..but then there's the noise problem..but the above explanation is how I fix my noise, and why I don't have any most of the time.
I don't get as crazy with effects as I used to..too many is just that, and I'd learned as I went along.
The trouble is, now, that it's so long between recordings/production, that I have to pick my brain to remember what to do when mixing down; and I KNOW that's bad, LOL!!
Hope your Thanksgiving went well, Tony.

I like the e minor part as a cool transition. Nice Beatle chords and it shifted from jazzy at the beginning to country-pop by the time it ended. I hear the trademark Tony DeLecce broken heart bleeding through - it comes through like a knife. Your sense of melody is uncanny. Another hit! Happy Thanksgiving,

OK, I am trying to make the rounds tonight. Happy Thanksgiving, sorry my Chiefs upset your Steelers, whoda figured?
Like the fast tempo and warm production on this one. Your vocals sound strong and the harmonies are on target.
Sorry I've been such a stranger. I haven't even turned on my recording machine in months, but lately I have picked up the acoustic guitar again. Been so damned busy. Hopefully this Christmas season I can get a tune out.
