kHill morgan are a forward thinking group that infuses various styles of music to create a new sound that belongs solely to them. This is what hiphop is about: Recreating what music can be.
Why this name?
It's a play on the names of the creators of the band. There's myself, Mikal kHill (which in and of itself is a play on my real name Michael Kermit Hill), and Kevin Morgan. By the way, the H is silent. Pronounce it kill morgan.
Do you play live?
We've played a few gigs in the Charlotte area, where a hiphop scene is "in development."
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes it easier for LOTS of crappy bands to get in the way of your success, instead of just the ones in your area.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of course. I fear what that might entail, because the majors really are all vampires. I'm not exactly El-P or something. I'm no VanHelsing. But I imagine even if I did sign with a major, I'd put more emphasis on the indie projects I did.
Band History:
Kevin and myself met years ago. We were in high school... Funny thing is, we lived across the street from each other for a few years before we ever actually spoke to one another. My dad more or less forced me to meet Kevin and his brothers. We're kinda like the Odd Couple. Polar opposites, but that's why we get along.
Your influences?
It's kindof hard to say, because we draw from such different extremes of music. I personally draw a lot from Hiphop, namely Automator, DJ Shadow, Sage Francis, Nas... Kevin is all rock and blues.
Favorite spot?
Don't ask me that.
Equipment used:
Ibanez Electric Guitar, Fender Bass, Tama Drums, a pair of Technic 1280's, some mixers, amps and other crap.
