This is the debut recording of Kenney Polson. It contains 70 minutes of smooth jazz featuring many of Brazil's finest jazz musicians. "Paradise" also includes outstanding musicians from California's San Joaquin Valley.
Why this name?
The name comes from the leader of the band! The official name of the band is The Kenney Polson Project...
Do you play live?
We enjoy playing many types of venues. However, we would like to primarily do concerts... We especially enjoyed playing at "Jazz on the Waterfront" in Stockton when we shared the bill with Joyce Cooling, Everette Harp, Jonathan Butler, Peter White, and Rick Braun!
If you make it big..?
It would be nice to be in a position to donate money to a charitable organization!
Band History:
What makes saxophonist Kenney Polson's debut CD "Paradise" stand out are the artfully chosen sounds flavoring each tune with a fullness not found in many of today's smooth jazz compositions. Each tune takes advantage of the talents of the back up musicians producing a wide variety of solos and beautifully orchestrated melodies. On several tunes, Polson enters the end of these solos with playful dialogues between his sax and the other musicians' instruments. The melodic saxophone harmonies also add to the fullness of this CD's tunes.

One look at the cover and a run through of the top Brazilian musicians performing make it apparent where the title cut "Paradise," gets its name.

Don't miss the opportunity to hear "Paradise" by Kenney Polson. Also, don't pass up the chance to hear his group, The Kenney Polson Project. The group gives a very dynamic show with non-stop music that dazzles and delights audiences of all ages.

Anything else...?
Kenney Polson has taken his background and wide variety of experiences and combined them into a fine tuned project. He pays tribute to his grandfather, Chubby Wayne Harshaw, a tap dancer with Count Basie and Andy Kirk, in his original Kansas City shuffle tune "Chubby Wayne". Polson's music can be compared to that of Najee, Eric Marienthal, Gerald Albright, and Grover Washington, Jr., all of whom inspire him.
