About the song
This all came together quite quickly, so we guessed we had a good one. Tony sings throughout. Guitars I used on this recording were:- Yamaha APX-4A electro-acoustic guitar, my trusty red Yamaha MSG Deluxe electric guitar, a Yamaha Pacifica (the end section) and my Crafter Cruiser bass guitar. All guitar processing was with a Line 6 Pod 2.0 and then recorded into my PC using Adobe Audition.
Lyrics
The People In The Zoo (Webster / Briggs) c 2010
Shiver-wet and standing on a cold and rainy morning,
with a sky full of tears that are too busy falling . . .
to fall in love with anyone, but a drizzle smeared reflection,
captured in a window that is waiting for the sun . . .
From a distance it may seem as if my hand is in a fist,
but that's the way to keep a 'ciggie' dry,
a technique I can't resist.
People get the wrong idea, and hide beneath umbrellas,
but that's ok, that's fine by me, there's no-one here to help us . . .
I cannot speak for me, I can only speak for you . . .
and I wouldn't dream of speaking for the people in the Zoo . . .
A sign writer can sense when the writing's on the wall.
A kid good at Maths, thinks it's no good at all.
A dying man will know, that life is very short,
so someone with no money,
has a soul that can be bought . . .
Please don't feed the people in the Zoo . . .they might bite !
