Mike Mattera has wowed us with his friendly and gentlemanly ways. Mike is now in the process of getting back into the studio to finish recording his current album, "GASOLINE".
Why this name?
It's a "Big Country" out there...I've done a lot of traveling...met a lot of folks...everyone has a story...I'd like to tell them....
Do you play live?
I play for a lot of older folks... There is nothing more satisfying than to watch them smile and laugh when they hear my silly songs.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
More people can listen to your music...There is a little to no cost factor involved...It's really up to the artist to promote themselves...
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
As a singer/songwriter...maybe....as a performer...I think I need to loose some weight...
Band History:
Early 70's Michael Shoemaker of "Shoemaker & Holly"

2002-PRESENT "Big Country Mike Mattera"

Your influences?
Well thats a funny thing...I grew up listening to opera, started out playing folk music, then a hard rock , & latter a R & B production band.
I always considered myself a story teller, and country music provides that avenue and permits me to use different styles and methods of music.
Favorite spot?
Wildwood, NJ...Home...I've been to alot of cities, played my music in one form or another in most, but it's really great to make my way home.
Equipment used:
Gibson guitars
Teac 2 Track
Quad Reverb
Assorted mics
Crown amps
Anything else...?
I have no messages, no great words of wisdom, no "magic pills" to make everything right, just a simple view of things that happen...and we all know "doo-doo happens".
If you take a ride with me I promise to tell you a story...and maybe the next story I tell will be about you...
