Why this name?
The name "Edge" was passed down to me from my uncles. I come from a big family and my uncles was always known as "Edge" because it was short for our last name which is Edgington. It's so many of us, so my uncles Brian and Kenny pass it down to me and put the "D" in there so I would have my own spin on it.
Do you play live?
I don't play live but I do perform when available. One special moment I have is when the group I was in (The Blood Brothaz) performed on the same stage as Twista. When we got on stage and everybody left but 4 people. It was embarrassing but we still performed. I am actually a studio rat. I love being in the studio. It's like being in my bedroom as a kid. Everything that I am interested in is in the studio.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it's a great thing. There is so much unheared talent out there. This allows that talent to be heard and provide an avenue for artist that don't have large sums of money to get exsposure. As long as we continue to support our artist and the music industry as a whole, internet (or mp3) should be a good thing.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Sure, although I think the music industry has become a mirror image of Wall Street. It has become more business driven and really all about investing money to see if you can make a whole lot more money. None of my music has ever been driven by money, only for love of the craft. I would sign with a major lable because of the exposure, the experience and to able to work comfortably. Working as an independent is great and it is more beneficial financially if you have money to do it. Yet at the same time, it takes away from the music because you wear so many hats. Your're the promoter, you're the A&R, you're the everything of the company and still have to put out solid material. But the experience I've gain from being an independent has taught me so much about this industry. I wouldn't change it for the world.

Your influences?
All of my uncles played a valuable part, but my first big influences is my uncle and co-partner B-Edge and my other uncle Dennis. Dennis would have these family get togethers at his home. He has thousands of albums and when we would go to his house, he would let me search through his albums and play whatever I wanted or make little mix tapes with all my favorite songs. That's where my love for 70's music came from. Brian use to come home with music all the time. He was always the first person with all the new music where we came from. I use to sneak in his room and "high-speed dub" all of his tapes. One day I snuck in his room and recorded this one tape that had no name on it. When I took it home and listen to it, it was Eazy-E and N.W.A. My famous influences are DJ Quik, Dr. Dre, N.W.A., Eminem, KLC (formally of Beats By the Pound),2Pac, Jay-Z, Ice Cube, Biggie, UGK, Twista, Trick Daddy, Rakim, Ice-T, Nas, Scarface, Chuck D, KRS-1, Paris, Prince, Quincy Jones, Herb Alpert, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire and Micheal Jackson. When you hear their music, you tend to feel exactly what they are feeling. It's like they are in the same room with you and they are telling you their story.
Favorite spot?
I've been to quite of few places like the Bahamas, Las Vegas, Phoenix, but I have to say that my favorite spot is my home town Gary, IN (TarryTown). It's grimey and dirty but it's home. It's great people there despite the fact that Gary has been labeled the "murder capital" for so many years.
Equipment used:
I think every producer should have a MPC of some sort. Rather it's the MPC 60, 1000, 2000xl, 3000, or 4000, that should be in every producer's tool box. That what I use the most.
