It's one of the last few days of summer, and Gary is taking advantage of the glorious weather, to do some much-needed shredding. 09/18/09

GOODE/SKOPICK PROJECT with drummer, Dave Goode from Mahogany Rush. This is our Meanest, sickest Dragon, yet.
Tony Bullard wrote and played the rhythm section, Dave Goode got it from Minusdrums.com, created the drum tracks, and Gary added some leads that could break your heart. GOODE/SKOPICK PROJECT with drummer, Dave Goode from Mahogany Rush.
Cydonia's pyramids stand guard over the Face on Mars. Eons of sandstorms' errosion could not carve such symmetry, in this monument of stone. GOODE/SKOPICK PROJECT with drummer, Dave Goode from Mahogany Rush.
Drummer, Dave Goode kicks it deep into your cranium, while screamin' leads by Gary Skopick explode through your eardrums. Speakin' of drums, that's where we scored Ken Florentino's mean rhythm guitar track, at minusdrums.com. SWEET! GOODE/SKOPICK P
This one reminds me of Frank Zappa's early instrumental LP, Hot Rats. Goode/Skopick Project with drummer, Dave Goode from Mahogany Rush.
A pleasant Sunday afternoon cruisin' song. Gary has cleverly cloaked the blues bass and drum riffs, in an etherial wormhole. GOODE/SKOPICK PROJECT with drummer, Dave Goode from Mahogany Rush.
Drummer, Dave Goode and guitarist, Gary Skopick join forces on a heavy chugging, arp fest. GOODE/SKOPICK PROJECT with drummer, Dave Goode from Mahogany Rush.
Drummer Dave Goode joins Gary Skopick on a subterranean journey. GOODE/SKOPICK PROJECT with drummer, Dave Goode from Mahogany Rush.
A happy, bouncy song, recorded on Gary's newly completed Marshall Stack. The new bottom cabinet is adding a meatier, thicker sound to his guitar. GOODE/SKOPICK PROJECT with drummer, Dave Goode from Mahogany Rush.
Bassist, Michael Cowden lays down a funky summer groove, topped by a hard thumping beat by Dave Goode, and some freaky shredding by Gary Skopick. GOODE/SKOPICK PROJECT with drummer, Dave Goode from Mahogany Rush.
A sweeping dreamscape with Gary Skopick on lead, Dave Goode playing drums, and Mike Cowden's killer basslines. GOODE/SKOPICK PROJECT with drummer, Dave Goode from Mahogany Rush.
Trace's bass licks show his Les Claypool influence for starters, and are followed by Gary's sweeping riffs.
A slow trippy song. The title is a tribute to Allan Holdsworth's band, U.K. Victor Salazar on drums.
This song will grab you by the throat, and shake your bones. Heaviest track written by the band so far! Victor Salazar on drums.
Classical chamber music a la ROCK!
Take a ride across the desert on wings of fire
Guitar Player Magazine Award Winning Song. #1 on SoundClick.com's Jazz Fusion Chart.
This was inspired by our song, The Dragon. It's meaner, nastier, and full of fire.
WE WILL CRUSH IT!
A tapestry of sonic textures to delight your mind, and body. Victor Salazar on drums.
Victor Salazar on drums
I just found this lost song that was recorded in 2004. So obscure, Gary didn't even remember playing it. It's a jazzy shredfest with Trace on bass, and Lamar on drums.
This exotic song has reached the #1 chart postion several times on our old site. It will sweep your mind away to ANOTHER PLACE.
Delicious, wet notes pour from Gary's SG Custom, The Black Assassin.
A song so eerie, it'll chill you to the bone, like an icy wind off the moors.
Victor Salazar on drums.
Victor Salazar on drums.
This is a dark place. You don't want to be alone here.
Here the Pops as this song cooks out in space.
This song has a very Trower-like feel to it. Dedicated to our sweet German shepherd, Shadow. R.I.P.
Totally lost in the middle of the mescal-laden desert. Trips of the mind, searching for ancestral plains to land upon. Victor Salazar on Drums.
Winding, erotic, and sensual.
This is the opening track of our CD, WORMHOLE. It propells the listener through space.
Tripped-out psychedelic instrumental with feedback, fusing elements of Hendrix with Zappa.
Gary wrote and recorded it back in 1999 with a drummer that we had, who uses a electronic V-Drum. In 2004 The Art Kite Museum in Germany asked our permission to use our song for a 6 month exhibit that they had about 1,000 ways to fly, called Abheben!
Fasten your seatbelts.
A haunting song that softly creeps like a fog across the Scottish moors
Loud and nasty
The title track from our last CD, WORMHOLE.
Twisted and perplexing instrumental, that's heavier than $hi#!
Take a mind blowing journey over the Egyptian sands, and down deep into a forgotten tomb of the Pharaoh. Victor Salazar on Drums.
A song that any Hendrix fan would love.
Smooth as ice.
Catch it!
Sure it's long, but it takes your mind on one hell of a journey, and back again.
This song is one of our heaviest songs in concert. Gary creates the dragon's flight with the force of the feedback, and makes it swoop around the room.
Why this name?
Our original band had a cool song called, REDSHIFT. When the bandmembers changed in 1997, a new name was in order, and REDSHIFT seemed to sum up the astral direction that the music was taking.
Do you play live?
GARY SKOPICK'S REDSHIFT is more of a concert band, than a bar band. We play all originals at our gigs. We just played a great gig of a lifetime, opening for guitar legend, Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush. Frank Marino inspired Gary, at an early age, and it was an honor to be on the stage that night.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Now we can reach far more fans around the world, than could ever hear us play at gigs. Our songs have reached #1 on Progressive Rock, Grunge, Metal, and Instrumental charts on internet sites. Our CD's have been sold in a few dozen countries, too.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
IF the right offer came about, and we wouldn't get ripped off, yes, we would sign.
Band History:
Guitarist, Gary Skopick has remained the one constant with REDSHIFT over the years. Based out of the western suburbs of Chicago, the band has taken many turns in band members over the past 15 years. Drummer Dave Goode kept in touch with Gary after they met while Dave was touring as Frank Marino's drummer. This summer Dave and Gary have been collaborating on a number of new songs, via the internet. Many include the talents of bassist, Mike Cowden, and others give Gary a chance to add his own basslines. Called appropriately, GOODE/SKOPICK PROJECT, Gary and Dave have been completing at least one new song, weekly, this summer.
GARY SKOPICK'S REDSHIFT'S current CD, Thrown To The Wolves, starts and ends with it's heavier metal tracks. Trace Cronin was REDSHIFT'S bassist from 2004-2010. Drummer, Victor Salazar added his talents to a few of the tracks that were added on or updated later in 2006.
The primary style of the band is Progressive Rock Instrumental. There are some Jazz-Fusion influences, but the music has a metallic edge to it,and remains very rocky.
The past 4 CD's have been self-produced by the band digitally in our own studio. Previous projects were all done in Chicago studios.
Jon Maru played bass for most of that period, but there have been several different drummers. Lamar Almeida played most of the songs recorded on THROWN TO THE WOLVES. Steve Blank on Roland V-Drums for songs on ANOTHER PLACE, and BIG SKY. Tommy Roberts slams on an acoustic kit for WORMHOLE.
The songs are still writing themselves!
REDSHIFT with Steve Blank, Gary, and Jon Maru, opened for the French Prog/fusion band, NeBeLNeST in 1999, when they made their first US tour, in Chicago.
Earlier, Gary and his first band,The Machine had opened for Quid Pro Quo, Brett Garsed's and TJ Hemerlich's fusion band, in the mid 90's. Gary's biggest thrill was when Redshift, featuring Victor Salazar and Trace Cronin opened for Frank Marino and Mahagany Rush in 2005.
