I'm a singer/songwriter who is currently self-employed doing remodeling/carpentry work. My wife, Erin, and I have been married for 10 years, and we have five children under the age of 8. Whew!

(By the way, make sure you visit Erin's website: www.soundclick.com/erinvenable. She's an up-and-coming songwriter!)

"Jeremy Venable, born and raised in Kansas City, MO, has been playing guitar and singing country music since his late teens, although growing up in a musical family ensured that music was a part of his life from the very beginning (his sister is an opera singer!). While in high school, he was a member of his school?s prestigious performance choir, among other vocal groups. He learned to play guitar and, after graduating, began singing around town at local karaoke events. This led to a unique opportunity to participate in a local radio station contest, which would allow 5 finalists to sing in front of thousands of baseball fans at Kansas City?s Kaufmann Stadium, after a Kansas City Royals baseball game (and, for what it?s worth, before Randy Travis?s postgame concert). To make a long story short, Jeremy was one of the finalists, and out of those finalists, he was voted the winner by the large crowd gathered at the stadium that night, based on his live performance of ?Chatahoochie?. So one can say, loosely, that he ?opened for Randy Travis??although it?s a stretch.

Jeremy eventually ended up in Waco, TX, studying commercial music at the city's junior college, which features a very unique program for students interested in a career in the music industry, and graduated with an associates degree in Commercial Music: Vocal Performance.

The next ten years would involve marriage (he met Erin in the same music program), kids, and playing around Central Texas in various bands. He also taught guitar and voice lessons for a couple of years as a side-gig.

Currently, Jeremy is focused on making a living and providing for his large (and very hungry!) family, but that doesn't mean his guitar is gathering dust. He leads worship at occasional church gatherings, and is doing his best to faithfully put one foot in front of the other, trusting that somewhere down the road, country music will one day grab his hand again and be a part of the journey."
Do you play live?
I've played in several bands and done the honky-tonk circuit for years, but I now have a desire for more family-friendly venues.
Your influences?
Grew up listening to a lot of Merle Haggard, along with bluegrass. I have a lot of memories falling asleep under my aunts' and uncles' chairs as they and my dad picked and sang into the night.
Favorite spot?
I'm a native son of Kansas City, MO - Go Chiefs! Although Texas sure has grown on me...
Equipment used:
Nothing fancy...Gibson guitar and my pre-amp. Audix mic. Pretty simple.
