Alternative underground hip-hop, with forrays into electronica, dance and trip-hop. Influenced by the likes of Alias, DJ Krush, DJ Shadow, Massive Attack, The Prodigy and all the bands on Grand Central and Ninja Tune records.
Why this name?
I'd like to be able to say that the name came from a horrific childhood experience, when one day i saw one cat savagely feast upon another. However, it really just came from my initials. It's also alot better than sXe_AlcoHoliC.
Do you play live?
Only just started out, but one day...!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think there are many more benefits to mp3s than there are detriments. If it hadn't been for mp3s, and being able to try before you buy, my cd collection wouldn't be half the size it is. Ergo, my musical knowledge, appreciation, understanding and influences would be radically different.
The internet is definitly beneficial for musicians, especially those just starting out. It makes it easier for artists to reach many more people than ever before.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Can't imagine that ever happening, as this is really a side project to my aspirations of film. But HELL YEAH!
Band History:
I started making music using computers in March of 2002. A result from a culmination of circumstances, I began using ACID Music. Being a sample-based program, I soon became frustrated and craved something else to make music with. As a result, the Boss Dr.Groove DR-202 drum machine began playing more of a role in my life. I began experimenting with it over my first year of university, but it wasn't until the summer of 2003 that the Cannibal Cat was born. Whilst spending nearly all my time with The Discipline - Edinburgh's finest hip-hop crew - I began using FL Studio. Having been a drummer, and having been using the DR-202 it was very easy to pick up. The beats were generally tight and pretty good, but melodies and bass lines basically sucked. It wasn't until I was studying in America that my melodies began gaining a degree of sophistication and more of a professional sound.
Your influences?
DJ Krush; the artist who has shaped my life in more ways than simply my musical inclinations.
Dilated Peoples; showed me what hip-hop was capable of.
DJ Shadow; made me realise the potential of acoustic-sounding hip-hop.
Grand Central artists; my personal favourite hip-hop label. Every band on there is awesome. Showed me a lot of different avenues of thought which for music i might not have found otherwise.
Ninja Tune artists; arguably the best label on the planet, home to some of the greatest hip-hop, jazz and trip-hop musicians alive.
Massive Attack; invented my favourite genre of music.
Anticon; sculptors of all things cool.
Def Jux; leaders in underground hip-hop
Rhymesayers; with the likes of Brother Ali, Atmosphere, Eyedea & Abilities and Mr. Dibbs on the roster, i couldn't help but be influenced.
The Discipline; especially Phaze, for showing how to do everything, and giving me hope!

Favorite spot?
Edinburgh has been my home for over 14 years, and is the best place in the whole world. none can argue with me any other way.
Equipment used:
Currently making use of FL Studio 4.12 pro and various editing suites such as Sound Forge. I also use a Boss DR-202 Dr Groove drum machine from time to time. Once cash starts coming in more regularly I shall be adding turntables and other music software to my arsenal.
