LoVel James is a musical genius raised in Harlem, NY. LoVel exhibits his talents for music as a singer, songwriter, producer, engineer, and piano player with a focus in the genres of rhythm and blues & hip hop. At only 17 years of age, LoVel will enter his first year of college this fall of 2009 at St. Johns University in hopes that a higher level education will help propel his musical pursuits to new heights.

LoVel began his musical career at the age of 4, when he joined the choir at his parish, St. Josephs of the Holy Family. During his time on the choir, LoVel developed basic skills on treating his voice and learned proper singing techniques. Furthermore, from this choir experience, LoVel had the opportunity to perform at a variety of churches, halls and ceremonies. Another program, Our Childrens Foundation, an after school enrichment center, enabled LoVel to attend dance classes, where he learned an array of choreographies ranging from Lindy Hop/Swing Dance to Latin Dance. While a member in this program, LoVel also began taking piano classes and developed a strong interest in that instrument. Through another enrichment program, the REACH for Regis Program, LoVel was introduced to stage musicals and took on a lead role in plays such as The Wiz and Joseph and His Amazing Multi-Colored Dreamcoat.

Currently, LoVel has also been diligently working on developing his God-given talents. LoVel had been working with a vocal instructor as well as various piano instructors in an effort to improve his vocal and classical skills. LoVel has also written and composed an ample amount of songs and performed a select amount of those songs in various performances, such as multiple Cultural Arts Festivals and talent contests.

During the summer of 2007, LoVel attended an Introduction to Recording college course, where he gained knowledge using Protools and Reason, two major programs used for recording. Currently as a 17 year old incoming college freshman, LoVel is developing both as a musical artist and a person and will continue to grow throughout his life.
