DOLANN is coming! Equal parts Hip-Hop, R&B, Neo and Retro-soul. Writing and singing from the true-life experiences of being a sistah just trying to make it, DOLANN is a musical journey of desire, jealousy, pain, heartbreak, love and self reliance. My faith is strong and so is my heart. Let this music be the soundtrack to your life, too. This trip is just starting so hang on, we have a long way to go and more stops to make before the final destination! There is more to come.
Why this name?
DOLANN is me, my name. My music is so personal to me and it's coming from a real place inside of me. It's my style. My voice. My realities. All of which I want to share with you.
Do you play live?
I did some things in LA, opening up shows for rappers (the N-Kroud Kliq) and singing with some of them. It's been fun on a lot of levels, but now it's time to step out from the shadows and do my own thing full time.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It lets more people get straight to what they want to hear for one thing. It may take some funds out of my pocket on one level, but if I can reach a wider international audience......it may all work out in the ends. (sista gotta eat, ya heard me?)
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
What are you crazy?! Of course! On my terms...I ain't getting jacked or punked or played.
Band History:
It's just been me and T all this time. Working on songs in the studio from way back when I was some knucklehead little girl wantin' to sing and write songs. I learned alot and grew as he helped me get better, to now I feel like it's time to show what I can do. He's behind me, we are the team that's going all the way Platinum many times over, ya feel me?!
Your influences?
My influences are all over the place, from Erica Badu, Jill Scott, Janet, Mariah, Whitney, Chante Moore the list could go on and on and on....
Favorite spot?
Hhhmmm! Miami, Brazil, Monte Carlo,Los Angeles....hard to choose just one
