I'm definitely not your typical rapper; you won't catch me writing about how much money I have or how many sluts I've banged. I'd rather write about things of a more profound nature, whether it be emotional hardship, narratives of others' lives, my cynicism towards the world, lyrics dedicated to the abstract, or the twisted and macabre horror stories that my mind often conjures up. I delve into spoken word and alternative rap obviously, but also horrorcore and hardcore rap; there's nothing better than lyrically slaughtering a beat. I have no aspirations for going big; I do this for myself, first and foremost, and for the sparse fans I already possess. If others happen to enjoy my music along the way though, then even better.
Why this name?
I'm a very complex individual. There are many "pieces," or parts of me that combine to 'put the puzzle together.' Sometimes optimistic and other times depressingly pessimistic, logical and contradictorily nonsensical, grim and romantic, I am a living jigsaw puzzle.
Do you play live?
As of now, I have never played live, nor am I sure that I ever will. I'm a naturally reserved and shy individual..so I'm not liking the whole getting up in front of everybody thing. But it is nice to entertain the thought..so who knows.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
In both good and bad ways. Good, because it's easy as hell to find the song you're looking for now and acquire the CD you desire. But, it's also bad because it's nearly rendered buying CD's obsolete, costing artists lots of lost money.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Nope. Maybe an indie label. Getting signed to Slug's Rhymesayers or Sage Francis's Strange Famous label is my dream though. Haha.
I started rapping with a bunch of friends, and we all shared dreams of sharing a rap group and making music and what not; we called ourselves 'Trauma.' But, we all ended up going our separate ways after awhile, and now I just make music on my own.
The way I write is influenced by how I feel and perceive things. As far as musical influences, I'd have to say Smashing Pumpkins, Sage Francis, El-P, Possessed, and Atmosphere have influenced me as an artist the most, but many other artists and poets have left their mark on me in some form or another.
