Death Smokes Dope is the one man band project of Lando, who's endless frustration with forming bands finally culminated into this one entity. The problem was always the same, nobody he knew was interested in playing the same kind of music, or he lacked the amount of people to do so. As a result, Lando took matters into his own hands, and created Death Smokes Dope in late 2006. The name was taken off a song he previously wrote for another band, enititled Hippie Driver ("Brain dead, the drugs corroded their minds. Marching seamlessly with joints in their mouths. They were dead, ushered to the new world with dope. Death awaited them, he too, with a dimebag in his hand.")

However, Lando never really worked with DSD until now. He would write little songs, and then put them under the DSD name, such as "The Gates," "Celestial, Ode to...," and "Elysium." Sadly, the fruits of his labor were lost due to a computer crash in 2007. Mixing together Doom metal, Post-Rock, Space Rock, Drone, and Hardcore, DSD looks to create a textural soundscape that will consume the listener into the endless void of airwaves being pressed into your brain. Lyrically, (when there are vocals) DSD focuses mainly on nature, space, science fiction, among other things. He's currently working on his first ever Demo, which is to drop by the end of summer.
Why this name?
I took the name from a song I wrote a long time ago, which I then started to use as an Xbox Live Gamertag. A few months later, though, the name got reported and as a result, I had to change it. When I did that, one of my friends told me, "Death Smokes Dope would make an awesome band name, brah." Since then, its been the pseudonym from which I release my work from.
Do you play live?
No, I would need about 5-6 extra people to help me with that haha.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
