Heavily influenced by the likes of Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, Pantera, Phish, Dream Theater, Fates Warning, Yes, and Fear Factory, Dirge's music is a unique blend of what has been described as "progressive dark, melodic folk-metal with touches of jazz n' funk (fo' flava)."
Why this name?
John the Baptist was the coolest guy in "Jesus of Nazareth," and in the Bible (Matthew 11:17), it says that he sang a dirge. Having seen that film and written songs that had a dirgelike feel to them, we felt it was fitting.
Do you play live?
We LOVE to play live. It's one of the things we do best.
If you make it big..?
When we make it big, we will probably try to get endorsed by SoBe.
Your influences?
Dream Theater, Jethro Tull, The Dave Matthews Band, Metallica, PhIsh, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd,
Rusted Root, Savatage, Tool, Fates Warning, Black Sabath, Yes, Fear Factory, etc.
Favorite spot?
The band room.
