Why this name?
I was born a jr, and I was the youngest of five boys. Everybody used to call me variations of jr like June Bug, June, and Lil June since I was always with my older brother. I first started going by Lil June, but decided to go by June because at the end of the day its who I am. Everyone call me June now so it is sticking.
Do you play live?
I perform live all over the DMV. If you would like to book me in your area, just drop me an email. june.dakid@yahoo.com
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has changed music a lot for the better and for the worst. It gives you a way to stay relevant without having an album through blogs, mixtapes, and just a forum to get your news out there. On the contrast there is a thousand ways for people to get your music out there for free, so as you can see record sales are on the drop.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
You know I would, I want my music to reach the world, and if you are not on a major, it makes it a lot harder for it to reach the world.
