play lo-fi play hi-fi  family resemblance...
play lo-fi play hi-fi  Revolutionary Christmas
play lo-fi play hi-fi  on fire...
play lo-fi play hi-fi  reborn...
play lo-fi play hi-fi  greater...
i have been a hip-hop artist for about 15 years, with a fan base concentrated mainly in the virginia/carolina area...after a recent rebirth as a follower of Jesus Christ, my formerly secular lyrics have been replaced by rhymes that focus on my faith, and the impact the Lord can have on anyone's life...my first Christian album, tentatively titled "family resemblance," will hopefully be released in the last quarter of 2009...after that, i will just wait and see what Jesus has planned for me...
Why this name?
my name is christopher, but 'stofer' originated as a unique shortened version...my alias was stofer the dopest when i was a secular artist, but i have since shortened it to my original nickname...
Do you play live?
i performed live regularly as a secular artist...fortunately, though, my home church is a welcoming environment for my current project...we have about 3000 in attendance every weekend, and performances there have garnered unbelievable support and encouragement from not only my church family but believers around the world who view services via the internet...i enjoy greatly being onstage, but relish even more being used by God to spread His message through my songs...
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
the internet has had both positive and negative impacts on the music industry, in my opinion...i was a hip-hop artist before the internet was a widespread phenomenon, and it was easier to put a load of cd's (or cassettes) in your car and play them around town, selling them as u go...now, everyone expects downloads and flashy websites, which is hard on a limited budget...on the positive side, though, i have never had such exposure potential...on just a small selection of websites, the reach of a musician can spread across the entire world!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
i've always considered myself, and proudly so, an underground artist...i am currently under contract with an independent label owned by a faithful man of God who i trust to follow God's vision...for that reason, i am thankful to be in partnership with heaven's disciples...if, after a period of time, a major label presents a reasonable offer, i would pray, talk to my colleagues at HD, and reach a decision at that time...
Band History:
i began in hip-hop with my cousin...we formed a crew, s.w.a.t. team, and began to expand throughout the east coast...i am still working with many of those friends today, but i am more focused on collaborating with my label-mates...the worship pastor at my church has generously given of his time to help in the production of my latest album...
Your influences?
the Lord is the ultimate influence for what lyrics i write...as for my delivery, i think i am more or less unique...however, all the rappers i grew up listening to have undoubtedly had an effect on the artist i am today...some of my favorite secular rappers have been jay-z, method man, redman, mos def, pharoah monch, and a variety of east coast lyricists...as far as Christian artists go, i enjoy da t.r.u.t.h., kj-52, lecrae, and many others...
