Steaming Dookies started as a fake ad spot I made for a voice-over demo reel I put together for the studio. When I realized I needed more of a creative output than I was getting from our Chicago punk party rock band Genral Patton and His Privates, I began experimenting with electronica. I developed a trademark sound that has totally become identifiable and stands out from other artists in my genre.
I hoisted a few Dookies tracks up the old flagpole and a few thousand people decieded to salute it! Steaming Dookies are currently in the top 10 techno artists on MP3.com Australia and had the number one industrial album for weeks, with thousands of plays per month. They are also being played by three live DJs on Songplanet.com and reside at number one on Jill No Jack's weekly Heart Of The Night Show's most-played list. Recently, due to increased worldwide traffic on their label website Big Yellow Hand Music the Dookies have been getting club DJs spinning their songs in Germany, UK, Ireland, Hungary, Netherlands, Australia and here in the USA as well.

Why this name?
I thought of the worst name possible, something I would never see anywhere else. So far, we're the only Steaming Dookies in the world.
Do you play live?
No live shows yet, but maybe soon.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's a double-edged sword, really...on one hand, you get access to a lot of great music and information, but it also means that you will find alot of stuff that is so awful, unlistenable and downright shitty. But yeah for the most part, it's changed it alot. For the better, I think.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
As a songwriter, yes...as an artist, no way... I have my own label anyway, Big Yellow Hand Records out of Chicago.
Band History:
Just formed in Spring of 2003 as a way to experiment with direct digital sound. I still play in my Chicago punk band, Genral Patton and His Privates, maintain a solo acoustic singer songwriter career and produce music for web developers and commercial soundbeds.
Your influences?
For the music on this page, influences include Crystal Method, Garbage, Portishead, Marilyn Manson, Trent Reznor, Tom Waits, George Clinton, Todd Rundgren and Random Encounter. I left out a whole bunch!
Favorite spot?
Chicago! It's got everything... there's not a better city to get arrested in!
Equipment used:
Fruity Loops 3, Fruity Studio, Acid Pro 4.0, Sound Forge 6.0, tons of samples numerous effects plug-ins, many virtual synths, bleeps, buzzes, bodily functions, anything that makes a distinct sound.
Anything else...?
Doodle doodle dee, wubba wubba wubba... waa wee waa boink boink boink poing squeench! Check out more at Big Yellow Hand Studios and Steaming Dookies and have a great day!
