Leader 1. 1/2 of the Epidemics. I stand for the real hip-hop and represent for me. I don't have a particular flow or style, it's versatile and you haven't heard the half of it, so hopefully I can get more and more stuff on here to give you a more accurate taste. Why this name?
Leader 1, actually came from the go-bots and or transformers (if you are a true fan). I grew up with that and my boy Kast dropped a line in a flow about Leader 1 and I liked the ring to it. Plus I feel I'm a natural born leader and want to free people from the obstructions in their life...like bad music!!
Do you play live?
Just open mics and spoken word at special events. Special moment was when I spit a piece on Police Brutality and Racial Discrimination and such a wide variety of people told me they were feelin what I had to say, from many different races, ages, and backgrounds. You never know who you can and may reach!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
This is madd exposure for free and it allows for sharing and dialogue between artists. Artists still make millions, but if everybody can get paid, then why not? I don't have to be the highest paid artist, I just want to do quality music. Where would YOU be without the internet????
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Morals say no, but $ talks sometimes...it's a catch 22.
Your influences?
Man everybody, I listen to everything from hip-hop to alternative, rock to motown, jazz to funk and so on and so forth, so many that have influenced me are people from all eras of those genres. Two on my greatest musicians of all time are Roy Ayers and Donald Byrd.
