His performance experience ranges from live concerts, to MC battles, to house/frat parties, to Bars & Clubs. He has had the opportunity to personally meet the Dilated Peoples (04’), Supernatural (04’), The Roots (05’), Kevin Powell (05’), & Jeff Johnson (07’), and he has opened up for Talib Kweli (06’), The Spooks (05’), & Dana Leong (07’).
Why this name?
The name came with years of change, TRE is an acronym for my artistic vision & focus. For the past four years I have went by the stage name T.R.E. - T.R.E. stands for many things, The Revolutionary Emcee, Truth Remains Eternal, The Rare Element, & Top Rated Entrepreneur, and more... I recently add the dMC making it TRE dMC... It is read like is sounds! I'm an MC and I also wanted to salute the ORIGINATORS & the OLD-SCHOOL founders of Hip-Hop. I'm not jockin Run & their accomplishments, I am making a statement in Respects to our cultural future.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
In positive and negative ways... Pirating music obviously sucks for the artist & the industry but the platform to spread your music globally is a definite plus! I love the fact that you can be an indie artist and truly have major success using the internet as a tool. It does suck though b/c everybody & their momma thinks they're "official" recording artists & the next thing to blow.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I will sign a record contract with a major label as long as the deal is beneficial for my future as a recording artist & a businessman.
Your influences?
The foundations of Hip-Hop Culture. Soul music, jazz, reggae, blues, anything with a smooth riddim. I have so many artists I love it would be too difficult to name them all. Live music is also a huge influence.
