Why this name?
I can't explain the meaning of DJ Stash1 ("DJSTASHONER")... True Heads know what's up. STASH ONE STASH ONE STASH ONE. I go by Dragonfly and I Dropper also.
Do you play live?
I currently rock the studio.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Forcing it to modernize. The major label/mainstream media business model is declining in relevance and value. They will have to learn to deal with the reality that selling $0.50 cds for $25.00 will not continue to be a viable plan with so many independent competitors in the marketplace.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Certainly, but not a chump deal. I retain ownership and masters. I won't settle for a deal that forces me to take all the risk, accept all the debt and let the suits walk away with the profits.
Band History:
I learned to play drums in high school, started building a small studio on 9th street downtown tucson before I had to sell the gear to pay rent. That was in 93. Was a roadie/stagehand for a reggae band for a year. Backpacked across the US and back and settled in Wisconsin in 95, been building the studio back up since 99. Ghetto as always, thank "Bob" for ebay and pawnshops.
Your influences?
I'm influenced by everything from Skinny Puppy to The Beastie Boys. My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, Revolting Cocks, Psychic TV, Sonic Youth, De La Soul, The Big Wu, Particle, The Disco Biscuits, Front242, Laibach, BiGod20, BreakBeats, Peanut Butter Wolf, P-FUNK, NWA, The Exploited, The Dead Kennedys, The Dead Milkmen, Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, Rush, Motley Crue, DJ Craze, QBERT, Mixmaster Mike, Fatboy Slim, Qbert, The Cure,
