I've been writing poetry as long as I can remember. My first real song came together for me in 2000, when I was going through some very difficult times. It was several years later, before I was able to play my own music for the things I had written. I am very thankful for it, and it changed my life. I knew music, taught basics to my kids, could tell them what I wanted them to play (for my songs), but I couldn't do it with my own hands! Now, I play the piano for my church, and really enjoy it! I hope to record all of my songs before I die, so that my kids will have a keepsake...
Why this name?
That's easy. I write about things that have a lot of meaning to me: lessons in life, love, and living what I'm supposed to live.
Do you play live?
Basically, only for my church or my friends. I enjoy sharing with people, but I don't aspire to be a performer.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Makes music from the heart (and lots of other stuff people create) amazingly accessible.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
That's not what I'm geared for. I just signed up with SoundClick for a place to catalog my music, and share it with friends.
Your influences?
Everything is an influence, but my favorite artists are Amos Lee, Sarah McLachlan, Adele, Ray Charles, Norah Jones, John Mayer, Train, and I just recently discovered an acoustic set by Sara Bareilles that I really love!
Equipment used:
Yamaha P60 elec. piano, MXL V36M condenser mic w/metal filter, TAPCO 4x6 fw interface, Tracktion 3 on my HP Pavilion laptop.
